🧶 WE’RE BACK AND THIS TIME, WE’RE TYING IT ALL TOGETHER! 😂❤️

The knitters had their day. The crocheters had theirs. Now it’s time for EVERYONE to come together!

Whether you came last time and are ready to help finish what we started, or had serious FOMO because you missed out this one’s for YOU! 😉

We’ll be joining our knitted and crocheted squares to create beautiful blankets to share with organisations supporting vulnerable women, children and families in our community before Christmas. 🎄❤️ And of course, we’ll keep making more squares too.

☕ Morning tea: $5 (cash only)

🧶 WHAT TO BRING

Knitters: 8-ply wool/yarn, knitted squares and 3.75mm needles.
Crocheters: 8-ply wool/yarn, crocheted squares and 4mm hook.
Joining crew: A 4mm crochet hook or darning needle.

Never joined a square in your life? No worries! Come along, learn something new, lend a hand, have a cuppa and enjoy a lovely morning with our community.❤️

📬 Well, this was a lovely surprise in the post!

No bills.
No junk mail.
Just kindness. 🥰

These beautiful squares were made and sent to us by Heather from Carisbrook, who wanted to be part of what we’re creating with our community crochet project.

And we think that’s pretty special.

The crochet event may be over, but the squares are still coming in and every one of them will be added to our blanket and become part of something bigger. 🧶💙

It’s also a lovely reminder that you don’t have to be able to make it along to an event to contribute. You can be hundreds of kilometres away, quietly crochet a few squares, pop them in the post and suddenly you’re part of something happening in your community.

That’s what community is all about.

Little acts of kindness.
People sharing what they can.
And a whole lot of yarn bringing people together. 🧶💙

Thank you, Heather, for your beautiful squares and for reminding us that you can be part of the fun, even when you can’t be in the room.

And who knows… maybe there are more surprise parcels out there waiting to find their way to us! 😉📬🧶

👜 A BAG LADY? US? NEVER! 😂🧵

Come and spend a crafty Saturday afternoon with CWA Barrabool Branch and make yourself a handy tote bag!

We’ll have a fabulous mix of new and donated upcycled fabrics to choose from, fabrics that may no longer be gracing the shelves of the big retail stores, but still have plenty of life (and style!) left in them.

And the best part? Every bag will be unique. So you might arrive with one idea and leave with something completely different because sometimes the fabric chooses you! 😉

No sewing experience? No worries! Come along, have a go and we’ll help you create something useful to take home.

🧶💙 What a day! 💙🧶

International Crochet Day was an absolute success and judging by how many people came along, how much laughing and chatting happened, and the fact that nobody seemed particularly keen to leave we think everyone had a rather wonderful time! 😂

There was plenty of crochet, lots of connection, new friendships being made, old ones being enjoyed, and of course those scones! 🫖🍓🧈

What started with a simple idea to bring people together with their hooks and yarn turned into such a lovely morning of community, creativity and connection. And we’re so proud that the squares made today will go on to become blankets for our local community. 🧶💙

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, brought their yarn, shared their skills, had a go, made someone laugh, enjoyed a scone (or two 😉) and helped make the day what it was.

And if you’re looking at these photos thinking “Oh, I wish I’d come!” don’t worry, you haven’t missed out forever! 😉
