Big couple of weeks of racing for the club across both road and gravel 💪🏼

⭐️ At Seven Gravel in Nannup, WA, Heidi Hunt finished 4th in the Women’s 50–54 category, qualifying for the UCI Gravel World Championships 👏

🌧️ At the Mount Gambier 100 Mile Classic, riders faced absolutely torrential conditions. Declan Pritchard started off scratch and was riding strongly before a puncture unfortunately ended his race. James Clay, also riding off scratch, rode strongly to finish 24th. Ryan Wain, riding off 3rd scratch, suffered bad luck after losing bottles hitting a pothole in the opening kilometres, forcing a DNF.

🙌 At the South Australia Kermesse Championships around the Blue Lake, Declan Pritchard rode an aggressive race in Elite Men’s A Grade, finishing 6th after a breakaway of four stayed clear to the finish. Declan also came away with the U19 title 🥇 James Clay was part of the decisive breakaway and played a huge role in keeping it away, finishing 4th 👏

🥇 In Elite Men’s B Grade, Ryan Wain bounced back from Saturday’s bad luck to take the win and the sprint prime after spending nearly the entire race in a 3-man break.

Unfortunately in C Grade, Chris Pritchard was riding strongly before suffering a puncture after 8 laps, ending his race.

Many of our members also competed in the Quad Series, with some awesome results across the opening rounds 👏

This week we’re shining the light on para track cyclist Erin Rowell 🚴‍♀️👏

How did you first get into cycling, and what inspired you to pursue it at such a high level?
I got into cycling while racing motocross and later used it for recovery after injury. I fell in love with the sport, and now it’s a huge part of our family life with my husband Ryan and son Jaxx. From there, my passion and drive to see how far I could go kept growing.

What are some moments you’re most proud of?
Winning my first World Championship will always be special, but I’m most proud of the resilience behind the scenes — showing up when things were hard and continuing to push forward.

What does a typical training week look like?
A lot more than just riding! Track sessions, gym work, recovery, mobility, nutrition, sleep, and making sure every little detail is done consistently.

What challenges have shaped you most?
Sport at this level has challenged me physically and mentally, but it’s taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of backing yourself through tough times.

What’s something people don’t realise about competing at the top level?
People see the medals, but not always the sacrifice, discipline, recovery, and constant work that happens behind the scenes every single day

GCC riders have been everywhere lately. Europe, South Australia & right here at home. Big kilometres, big races, and plenty of grit from the whole crew.

1️⃣ Tynan in Europe 🇧🇪 🇳🇱
has been mixing it with the Euro hitters at Omloop van het Waasland, Ronde van Overijssel, and Slag om Woensdrecht. Huge teamwork on display, helping national champ Pat Eddy land two seconds and a win. Strong racing and even stronger progression.

2️⃣ Junior NRS – Round 1 (Berri, SA)
Berri dished up some brutal conditions, with 55+ kph crosswinds making every stage a proper battle across the road race, TT and kermesse. put in a seriously impressive ride all weekend, highlighted by a dominant win in the Stage 2 TT before sealing the overall GC. was riding with real maturity and toughness, with conditions and terrain unsuited to him, but after an incident on Stage 3 sent him into a gravel ditch, all though he kept it upright his tour sadly came to an early end.

3️⃣ Otis in Italy 🇮🇹 s has been deep in the Italian scene with Team Zappi, lining up at Palio del Recioto, GP S. Vendemiano, Liberazione, and Torino–Biella. A massive block of Euro racing and experience against some of the best young riders in the world.

4️⃣ Footscray Club Tour
Three stages over two days and a stack of results across the grades.
A Grade: Hugo French - 2nd GC, KOM, Sprint Classification, 1st Most Combative. Travis Edwards - 7th GC with a solid, consistent ride.
C Grade: Daryl Sutter - 3rd GC + 2nd in the Sprint Classification.
