Corangamite Catchment Management Authority are calling on the community to have your say on the future of Buckley Falls!

CCMA is seeking community feedback on proposed works to improve fish passage at this iconic site—supporting native fish like the Australian Grayling and helping restore river health.

It's your chance to share:
➖ What you value most about Buckley Falls
➖ Your level of support for the proposed improvements
➖ Your feedback will help ensure the project reflects what matters most to the community

Have your say here: https://ccma.vic.gov.au/your-voice-matters-share-your-thoughts-on-buckley-falls/

This engagement forms part of the ‘Improving Fish Passage on the Barwon and Moorabool Rivers’ project, which aims to restore river connectivity and support native fish species recovery by removing or modifying barriers that restrict movement.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.

A great catch! 🤩

Victoria’s tuna fishing is truly world-class and has been attracting keen anglers from across the country lately.

Jack Wighton from the South Sydney Rabbitohs got in on the action last month, landing this barrel off Apollo Bay, estimated to be 95kg, with help from Gawaine at Salt Guide.

The guys had been planning a less adventurous session on the whiting, but when the weather window opened up, they decided to take advantage and head offshore instead. Good call!

To increase Victoria’s capacity to grow our own fish and create new fishing opportunities, VRFish are calling for investment to build a new estuarine fish hatchery to grow species such as estuary perch, Australian bass, mulloway and flathead and enhance our estuarine fishing experiences.

Additionally, VRFish are advocating for a $10-million investment to modernise trout and salmonid production facilities at Snobs Creek.

Australia is a dry continent and since European colonisation, our rivers and wetlands have become highly modified to support agricultural and domestic water security throughout the whole country. Unfortunately, the dams, weirs and barrages built on our inland and coastal rivers to manage our fresh w...

It's World Fish Migration Day! A global celebration which raises awareness on the importance of open rivers and migratory fish.

Unrestricted fish movement is a key characteristic of healthy waterways. Our native fish species flourish when our waterways are free from barriers allowing them to move more freely to feed, breed and seek shelter.
