Gary Lindsay reports from Bloodbikes Australia, “An interesting and satisfying afternoon. Boonah Hospital rang and said their normal courier couldn't get through because of flooding. There was a lot of water around the Scenic Rim but we were able to get their blood tests into Ipswich Pathology within an hour.

We’re thrilled to welcome Neil to the team, who has successfully completed his very first night shift with LRBB last week! Even though it was his first time working nights and completely new to him. he said he absolutely loved it. 🌙

Completing approx 8 runs covering LRI, General Path and General Maternity, Sandringham Pathology and Glenfield! 🧪

He completed his training with Chris and Simon, both of whom were excellent, which ensured his shift proceeded smoothly, and he was well supported by his controller, Mick, who made him feel at ease., especially when his very first pick up was a triple drop! 🚗✨

This weekend has seen our first visit to Sidmouth Hospital to support them with our free blood bike service after we were asked to support them, alongside Tiverton & Exmouth hospitals.

This morning volunteer rider Sylvester was tasked to collect urgent samples from the hospital and on arrival a staff member told him how delighted they were that we were now supporting them because of the difference it makes to their patients.

She explained how we can save patients from being moved by ambulance overnight to Exeter when urgent blood samples were needed. The ambulance would then return the patient to the ward.

By providing our free blood bike service to the hospital, not only does it save the patient and uncomfortable journey but also helps free up valuable resources to help other patients in their time of need.

And that is why we all do what we do!!

🌙🏍️ Dark nights are here… but NERVS keeps rolling! 🚗💛❤️

The clocks have gone back, the nights are getting darker, and it feels like we barely get daylight before it’s time to switch the lights on again! 🍂🌧️

But while the rest of us are getting cosy on the sofa, our amazing NERVS volunteers are still out and about across the North East of Scotland, supporting the NHS with urgent deliveries when they’re needed. 📦🏥

Whether it’s a motorbike cutting through the darkness or one of our cars heading out on the roads, our volunteers give up their own time to help keep things moving — whatever the weather and whatever the hour. 🏍️🚗

So, a little reminder as those dark nights draw in:

🚘 Drivers: Please keep an extra eye out for bikes, especially in poor weather and low visibility.

🏍️ Bikers: Stay safe, stay visible and take extra care on those darker roads.

💛 Everyone: If you spot a NERVS volunteer out on a run, give them a wave! 👋

Stephen was out on duty in the car today and had the pleasure of linking up with Malcolm, a SERV OBN driver, in Coventry to collect samples destined for Birmingham.

Great to see our teams working together to help get those vital samples where they need to be!

🍼 3,960 MEALS. JUST LET THAT SINK IN. ❤️

In September, Greater Manchester Blood Bikes transported 99 litres of donor breast milk.

That’s approximately 3,960 meals for premature babies. Tiny humans. Tiny tummies. A massive difference.

Sometimes the most important deliveries are for the smallest people.❤️
