As many of you will now be aware, Leanne died on 2 July. She died peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family.

She was able to do this thanks to Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD), which gave Leanne the ability to end her life with dignity, on her own terms, and in her own time.

In the final episode of You, Me & Muscular Dystrophy, Leanne is interviewed by her son, Jake, about why she chose to use VAD, how she thought about death and dying, what she felt like in her final weeks (plus, a few guesses at what the afterlife might be like!), and why everyone deserves the right to have a say in their own death.

Listen through the link in bio.

Thanks to everyone for being part of Leanne’s journey.

Spot the ramp! 🔍
I’m sharing a few photos of access in action because visibility is the first step toward change. It’s easy to overlook these details if you don’t need them, but for so many of us, ramps are as essential as an opening entrance which we all take for granted .

Take note of how many places that you visit could be accessed by me rolling alongside you .

What’s one place in your local community that got accessibility right?

Hi 👋,
I have had a long held like/dislike relationship with social media - I know I'm not alone in that !

My desire is to be creative through photos, videos and ideas and share information and experiences of mine and on behalf of others .

Despite the many negative societal issues that have arisen from the proliferation of social media I have found Facebook and Instagram a great way to connect with loads of people since I began my online foray into disability advocacy. In fact, social media is perhaps the only reason I have been able to advocate in my small way.

However, with my depleting energy, discomfort and a greater wish to engage one on one with others and nature, 'doing' social media becomes pretty tedious combined with the complicated backend work and messaging problems with Meta ( who owns Facebook and Instagram) or maybe that's just me!
Consequently I deleted my original Leanne's Wheel Life page in January 2026.

However, now that I have 14 podcast episodes ; You, Me & Disability and a recent two podcasts; You, Me & Rare Disease I realise that I may have let down some people who were following me who may not know about these podcasts and who may have had the chance to share in my many wonderful guests.

So I'm back and would love you to share Leanne's Wheel Life around to anyone you think is interested in people in general and disability inclusion, equity and understanding specifically.
If you have anything you would like to message me about - any ideas for podcast episodes or anything else - please do so I'd love to hear from you.

Happy New Year, happy International Rare Diseases day, happy International Women's Day, happy Chinese and Vietnamese New Year's Day and all the other happy days that I have definitely missed

Thanks for reading for this long.🥰
