One thing that really drives me is growing locally rare species from tiny remnant populations and seeing them become common again in the Geelong landscape. These Podolepis jaceoides (Showy Podolepis) were grown from one such remnant on the Bellarine Peninsula, and I've planted a few in my garden here in Armstrong Creek in pretty tough conditions in full sun. They've been flowering for about a month now and are thriving! They're little rays of sunshine and a beacon for pollinators. I'll collect seed from these this summer, which will enable me to grow hundreds for local revegetation projects.
