est:1990 | Awesome People • Yummy Food • Homely Vibes The Outpost Inc. NOT EVERYONE fronting up to the Outpost is a rough sleeper.

was established in February 1990, over 30 years ago, and is the ONLY non-referral after hours service feeding those in need 7 nights a week in the Greater City of Geelong. The Outpost abides by a “no questions asked” policy and serves food to a diverse range of local people including young families and children. Some people are sleeping in cars and doorways; others aren’t homeless yet are doing it tough. The Outpost is very much a community – often the same people come and go; and sadly new faces are ever emerging through the doors. At its core, The Outpost services ensure sure that people have a hot meal, that there’s a place to attend, feel safe, and have a conversation with volunteers and with their community and friends. The Outpost delivers:

*Hot healthy cooked meals
*Hot and cold drinks – Coffee / tea and milo
*New and recycled clothing and shoes
*Fresh fruit and vegetables
*Blankets, beanies, street swags, sleeping bags
*Personal hygiene products (including male and female sanitary products)
*Various other personal items as donated
*Welfare support including food and pharmacy vouchers

"BRILLIANT NIGHT" - "Fantastic food that hit the spot - with great portion sizes" - "I cant remember the last time I ate lamb!" - "I hope they come back again".

Just some of the comments received at the APCO Foundation Restaurant Take Over night at The Outpost; and what a great vibe and partnership it was.

Thank you for brining dignity to those we serve with such compassion and thoughtfulness across the entire evening of service. Loaded potatoes (Mexican, lamb and Hawaiian); the chocolate brownies and ice-cream went down an absolute treat! The privilege was all ours to have you take over the kitchen and the counter serving the community.

Thank you to the APCO Service Stations and Board, Staff, suppliers and donors for brining kindness and a touch of brightness to someone's day. We are grateful and hope to partner again!

I was an absolute delight to welcome the Living Faith Greater Geelong Lutheran Church to The Outpost for a tour of the facilities. A few weeks ago, The Outpost held our 36th Annual AGM and Impact Celebration hosted by the Murran Hub.

What most people didn't see.......... was that during the proceedings, 2 people joined the straight from off the streets. Volunteers were the first to move seats to make room - Murran Hub CEO was quick to his feet to dish up a meal and a drink, proceedings continued without fuss; and for that exact moment it drove home exactly what The Outpost is all about. Volunteers that move mountains, partners that share our values, and people who need a space to belong are welcomed with dignity.

During the evening, we were honored to be joined by valued volunteers who dedicate tireless hours to ensuring that Geelong locals don't go hungry and always have a place to belong.

Welcomed by the spectacular tunes of local band - The Mill Rats - The proceedings were launched by Couzens MP with a reflective and heartfelt Acknowledgment of Country. This year we also introduced a panel partners who compliment our service in every way - including Amy Waters , Kate Datson ; Alysha McKenzie and our very own - Professor Barry Cooper representing The Outpost and Foundation20.

It was extra special this year as .kontelj presented one particular volunteer's certificate achieving an astounding dedication of 30 years alongside the annual service awards. Congratulations. The Local Legend Award was presented to heart of gold - Rod from .

We were grateful to be joined by representatives of Federal, State and local government including Geelong City Council; our trusted funding partners and local supporters in a night that celebrated the individuals and organsiations that continue to make our service impactful to those who need it when times are tough.

Last night we were joined by the incredible to offer in place pet care to The Outpost Community exactly where and when they need it.

The Dont Forget My Pet partnership over the last 12 months has supplied our guests with pet food to get through the hard times and escalating cost of living. Now offering regular pet health support and we could be more proud or thankful.

Thank you to the wonderful volunteers and to our guests who continue to put their trust in our partner service providers. The Outpost is more than a meal, it's a lifeline for community including our fury best mates! Noone is left behind.

The Outpost are seeing regular weekly or fortnightly service volunteers across our Day (10:30am-1:30pm), Evening (6:30pm-9:30pm) and Cooking (8am-1:30pm) shifts.

Our guest wardrobe is looking rather bare and clothing is urgently needed for men and women again. Also in need of blankets and sleeping bags (doonas and pillows are not accepted).

If you have clean and good condition appropriate items that need a second purpose, please consider donating.

All donations can be received at The Outpost - 42 Little Ryrie Street, Geelong between Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:30am-1:00pm or every evening 365 days from 7-9pm.
