GAWLER THIS MUST STOP! Stand Up Speak Out
Destroyers, our Counting Dead Women campaign calls on all levels of government to prioritise a national, unified system for investigation, analysis and response to violence against women, to make a safer world for women and their children.
Every day our researchers investigate current news articles and police media bulletins. Every day we track unsolved reports, including missing persons reports, some of which date back months and years, to ensure that our records are as accurate as possible. And each month we bring you a report of changes to our historic record. We inform you of updates to our yearly registers and offer a memorial honouring women whose deaths were not known to us at the time, but which may have been confirmed during the preceding month and attributed to violence against women.
Today we update our register for 2024 with news of a death which, after an extensive investigation, is now the subject of a murder charge.

𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗺
Emergency services found Christine Dawson, 66, inside her apartment at Astoria Circuit in Maroubra (NSW) on November 18, 2024. Her ex-partner, Shane Tucker (52), was arrested at a property in Pennant Hills in June 2026 following a long-running investigation. He has been charged with murder (domestic violence) and remanded in custody. No further details are reported to date.

Ms Dawson’s death is recorded as number 71 in our chronological register for 2024, which now stands at 81.

During July 2026 our researchers recorded 4 confirmed reports of femicide. We have monitored 40 new and ongoing reports of potential deaths by violence, including 1 long-term missing persons report. We made 23 updates to our historic registers, including names, police activity, coronial findings and sentencing. We have also made 8 updates to our register of Undetermined deaths.
