Morning All,
As the "March of the Dungarees" wraps up, I sit back and reflect on the last week.
After spending a week with all and having the pleasure to be the OIC for this historic event, watching Cadets and Staff alike make new friends, and re-kindle old friendships. I am in awe and admiration of the Cadets for their resilience, and ability to march on in the true spirit as a "Dungaree".
This will be a "March" to remember, for all that were involved, either directly or indirectly. It was a pleasure to meet the descendants of the original "Dungarees" and hear their stories and admiration of the Cadets and their efforts.
To all the Cadets and Staff that I had the fortune to work with, I thank you, the March could not have occurred with out your help. This shall be recorded for History and you should all be proud to have been involved, and completed the March.
To the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Many thanks for your Grant and assistance through the march.
To the South Queensland Australian Army Cadet Headquarters, I thank you for your faith and vision that this could be done, and assistance when I required it.
For all the RSL's, Schools and local groups that assisted, Thanks for your facilities and assistance through out the March.
I have never been more proud to be an Officer of Cadets in the Australian Army Cadets, and after 15 years this will always be the highlight of my service with the AAC, and a "March" to remember for the next 15 Years.
To all, I wish a enjoyable Christmas and and exciting start to 2016 and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
Regards
CAPT(AAC) Glen van Emmerik
Officer in Charge - March of the Dungarees 2015
