Wednesdays are our work days where many senior members carry out maintenance on the railway. The HME has approximately 1 km of 5" (127mm) gauge railway track on which model steam, diesel and electric trains operate. It is known as the Galston Valley Railway (GVR). There are extensive yards, a station building, unloading/loading and steaming up facilities. The track is signalled and is representati

The volunteer members of Hornsby Model Engineers would like to thank all those that attended our running day today ~ Sunday, 13th October 2024. We all had a great time and with the number of parties spread all over the site looked like you did too.

Weather permitting, our next running day will be on Sunday, 10th November 10am till 3pm [4 weeks away].

We will be running our sausage sizzle, canteen and new coffee van at the entrance, also our garden railway is just down the short path near the entrance which the kids can get to control a Gauge 1 model train.

So make it a great day with family and friends for a train ride or two.

We look forward to seeing you all here at Galston Valley Railway. Don't forget your enclosed shoes.

It’s great being part of a miniature railway club with many duties that can be performed and/or just join in the chat with railway related subjects.

We also have club play days Saturday two weeks after the public day. Every Wednesday are club work days for those retired or can spare the time.

A great friendly club with an excellent member knowledge base on every topic.
