Happy World Ranger Day!! And a big thank you to our rangers for solid efforts all round. Today 5 of us drove home from Esperance, tree planting with mooditch mob, Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation . Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Meanwhile 2 yorga rangers studied up for future work on data collation.

What really stands out this year is determination and collaborations. A few of Our highlights and great experiences - the Noongar Land Enterprise Ranger forum with all you fine Rangers 💪🏿,fire forum with Gnowangerup Rangers, cultural fire work with Southern Aboriginal Corporation teams and great mob that came from Victoria, First aid at the Noongar Centre with Wagyl Kaip Rangers and now good solid time on country with Tjalarraak.

Have a great weekend! 🖤❤️💛

Two inspiring days at Nowanup with a cultural fire exchange with indigenous fire managers from all over Victoria and cohosted by our wonderful friends at DFES bushfire centre of excellence.

Thanks fellas for helping put fire into long unburnt natural vege close to camp, your keenness to get into it, cultural respect and exchanges, sharing fire knowledge and new friendship.

This visit was a wonderful reminder that while we still have a long way to go to apply cultural kaarla across the landscape , within a decade, indigenous mobs across southern Australia have bought cultural fire back onto the map. Every elder led mob, every ranger team , every organization having a go, often against the odds and fighting a bureaucratic system , old ways are becoming new 💛

A great day working with SAC Noongar Rangers at Tootanellup as part of Gondwana LInk

On the 16th June I had the privilege of planning and facilitating a day working with the SAC Noongar Ranger team at Green Skills Tootanellup property 100km north west of Denmark.
Noongar Rangers carry out plantings for Black Cockatoos, bush tucker & prepare for NAIDOC Week.

The day culminated months of planning, linking cultural connections & walking together, progressing a journey of re-igniting knowledge of djiriji, the local Zamia cycad, with its strong ecological and cultural importance. In addition the day helped launch an innovate program to plant non-native tree species especially for Black Cockatoos, building to recent initiatives of Professor Kingsley Dixon and others on WA's Swan Coastal Plain.
