Vehicle thefts, Cairns district.

Police have charged three teenagers after the alleged theft of several vehicles in Cairns.
It will be alleged a 17-year-old Holloways Beach boy, a 15-year-old Edmonton girl and a 15-year-old Manoora girl were involved in the theft of several vehicles in the Cairns area as well as other offences over the last few days.
The trio were arrested by police at a Westcourt address overnight, December 13.
It will be further alleged when the boy was located by police he was found to be in possession of suspected stolen property and a quantity of dangerous drugs.
The boy has been charged with six counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count each of enter dwelling, stealing, wilful damage, possess suspected stolen property and possess dangerous drugs.
The Edmonton girl has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and two counts of stealing.
The Manoora girl has been charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle.
All three have been remanded in custody and will appear before Cairns Childrens Court today, December 14.

Dangerous driving, Westcourt

A 19-year-old Westcourt man was charged with several vehicle related offences yesterday, December 15.
It will be alleged at around 8am, December 14 the man was driving a stolen vehicle in a dangerous manner in Lyons St.
It will be further alleged the man was involved in vehicle thefts in the Cairns area over in previous days.
Police also allege the man was in possession of a quantity of methylamphetamine when taken into custody by Police.
The 19-year-old man was charged with three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, three counts of driving without a licence, and one count each of dangerous operation, possess dangerous drugs and face disguised with intent.
He was remanded to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on 15 Dec

Multiple charges, Cairns area.

Three teenagers were charged after following a string of alleged vehicle thefts and break and enters over the last week.
Officers located the 16-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy in Gordonvale and Cairns yesterday, December 14.
The 16-year-old Edmonton girl was charged with eight counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count of driving unlicensed.
The 16-year-old Gordonvale boy was charged with three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, three counts of enter dwelling, three counts of receiving tainted property, three counts of breach of bail and one count each of possess suspected stolen property, stealing and drive unlicensed.
The 13-year-old Holloways Beach boy was charged with five counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one of attempted entry.
All three are due to face the Cairns Childrens Court at a later date

Wounding offence, Smithfield

Queensland Police have charged a woman following an alleged wounding at Smithfield yesterday evening, December 14.
It will be alleged around 6pm, emergency services were called to a Gurrumbah Street address following reports of a man sustaining multiple stab wounds.
Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old Smithfield man who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A 24-year-old Smithfield woman, allegedly known to the man, was taken into custody a short time later on Gurrumbah Link.
She has been charged with one count each of wounding (domestic violence offence), contravention of domestic violence order.
She was refused police bail and is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today, December 15.

Assault occasioning bodily harm, Cairns City

A 19-year-old Bentley Park man was charged following an alleged assault on a 23-year-old North Cairns man on the Cairns esplanade yesterday, Sunday December 10.
It will be alleged around 4am the 23-year-old male victim was involved in an altercation with another group, during which he was knocked to the ground.
Whilst the victim was on the ground the 19-year-old male allegedly stomped on his head.
The victim was taken to Cairns Hospital for treatment.
The 19-year-old male was arrested by Police shortly after the incident and is due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on December 22nd.

Robbery, North Cairns

Officers from Cairns Property Crime Unit have charged a 14-year-old North Cairns girl after she allegedly assaulted a 19-year-old German tourist on December 6.
It will be alleged at around 7.30pm, the 19-year-old was waiting for a bus on Sheridan St when she was approached by a group demanding money from her. After refusing their demands it the 14-year-old girl allegedly punched the victim multiple times before taking money from her.
Investigations into the identities of the others in the group are ongoing.
It will be further alleged that the 14-year-old girl had been involved in multiple other offences in the Cairns area over the previous several months.
The girl was charged with one count each of robbery and assault and four counts of enter premises and commit offence.
She was dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Enter Premises, Cairns area.

A 45-year-old Bungalow woman was charged with multiple offences after being arrested on Friday, December 8.
The woman was located at around 3pm in Gummow Close after members of the public alerted police.
It will be alleged at the time of the arrest the woman was located with a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The woman was allegedly involved in several offences between Mount Sheridan and Whitfield over the previous two weeks.
The 45-year-old woman has been charged with four counts of enter dwelling and one count each of trespass, possess dangerous drugs and possess utensils.
She has been remanded in custody to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 14.

Grievous bodily harm charge, Cairns City

Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detectives yesterday arrested a 51-year-old Wujal Wujal woman after she allegedly assaulted a 44-year-old Portsmith woman on November 26.
Police allege the women were known to each other and were involved in an altercation on Shield Street around 1pm when the older woman punched the Portsmith woman and knocked her to the ground.
The 44-year-old Portsmith woman sustained life threatening head injuries and was conveyed to the Cairns Hospital for medical treatment.
Detectives charged the 51-year-old woman with one count of grievous bodily harm whilst adversely affected in a public place and two counts of breach of bail.
She was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today, December 8.

Drink & drug driving charges, Cairns

Local police are continuing to perform traffic operations across the Far North and motorists are reminded to think before they drink or do drugs and drive.
A 20-year-old Trinity Park woman was charged with mid-range drink driving after she was intercepted by police on Lake Street at 3am yesterday, December 7.
Police conducted a breath test and she allegedly recorded a reading of 0.112.
She was charged with one count of mid-range drink driving and issued with a notice of suspension.
A 34-year-old White Rock man was intercepted driving a Toyota on Grafton Street, Cairns City at about 1.15am this morning, December 8.
Police conducted a breath test and he allegedly recorded a reading of 0.197.
He was charged with one count of high-range drink driving and issued with a notice of suspension.
Both drink drivers are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 22.

A 52-year-old Manunda woman was intercepted driving a Subaru in Lake Street Cairns North at about 4am today, December 8.
She allegedly returned a positive drug test and was issued with a notice and suspension notice.
She was charged with one count each of drug driving and possess drug utensils.
Police are awaiting further drug test results and she is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 11.
A 21-year-old Manoora man was intercepted driving a Kia on Mulgrave Road Parramatta Park at about 8pm yesterday, December 7.
He allegedly returned a positive drug test and was issued with a notice of suspension and charged with one count of drug driving.
Police are awaiting further drug test results and he is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January

Child abuse charges, Yorkeys K**b

Detectives from the Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a 42-year-old Yorkeys K**b man with further offences after a search warrant was allegedly executed at his home in September.
On September 12, officers allegedly seized mobile phones and electronic devices and charged the man with multiple offences.
He was taken into custody yesterday, December 3 and charged with 37 counts of using a carriage service to access child abuse material, eight counts of making child abuse material and one count of contravening an order to access information.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 8.

Robbery charges, Edmonton

Detectives from the Property Crime Unit have charged a 14-year-old Edmonton girl following ongoing investigations into the alleged armed robbery of a 14-year-old girl at an Edmonton sporting complex on November 28.
The girl was located by officers from the Tactical Crime Squad yesterday and was charged with robbery.
She was further charged with unrelated offences which included three counts of stealing, six counts of breaching bail and one count of entering a premises.
She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.

Further charges, theft of puppies, Edmonton

A further two teenagers have been charged following investigations into the theft of four puppies from an Edmonton home on November 11.
It will be alleged forced entry to the home and stole four two-week old Golden Retriever puppies along with jewellery and a vehicle.
Extensive police investigations led to the recovery of all four stolen puppies who were each located at different homes on the south-side of Cairns. The vehicle and jewellery were also recovered.
A total of seven teenagers aged between 14 and 18-years have now been charged.
A 15-year-old Bentley Park boy was charged with entering a dwelling and receiving tainted property. He was further charged with possessing of a dangerous drug, possession of a drug utensil, entering a dwelling and attempting to enter of dwelling.
He was refused police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens court
An 18-year-old Bentley Park man was charged with entering a dwelling and receiving tainted property. He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 4.
Two 17-year-old Bentley Park boys, a 14-year-old Manunda boy, a 16-year-old Manunda boy, and a 16-year-old Woree boy were previous charged over the incident.

Historical r**e charges, Cairns City

Detectives have charged a 51-year-old Bundaberg man over the alleged r**e of a female tourist on March 17, 2007.
It will be alleged the then 35-year-old man approached the 19-year-old tourist at around 3.20am on the Esplanade. A struggle ensued after he tried to grab the woman by the wrist. The victim fled and the man continued to chase her. He allegedly sexually assaulted the woman after she fell.
The woman was treated at hospital for shock and an injury to her jaw.
Despite extensive investigations, detectives were unable to establish a suspect. The case was re-opened this year after forensic evidence taken at the time of the incident, was matched to a current DNA sample.
Cairns Detectives re-opened the case and took the man into custody at a property West of Bundaberg on Friday, November 17.
The 51-year-old man was charged with r**e
He is scheduled to appear in the Biloela Magistrates Court on January 10.

Damage to police car, Cairns City

A 28-year-old Western Australian man has been charged after he allegedly smashed the window of a parked police car on Pier Point Road at around 3.15pm on November 17.
It will be alleged the man threw rocks at the window. A foot chase ensued after the man fled the scene
He was taken into police custody at a Spence Street business a short time later. The 28-year-old was charged with wilful damage of police property and obstructing police. He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court.

Stolen puppies, Cairns area

Police have charged two teenagers after two allegedly stolen puppies were located yesterday, November 15.
Officers were called after an Accatino Close property was allegedly broken into around midday yesterday.
Four two-week old Golden Retriever puppies were reported stolen from the home as well as a grey Mazda MX-5 coupe and jewellery.
At around 12.45pm, police located the allegedly stolen vehicle abandoned on Blackbird Close at Bentley Park. The stolen puppies were not with the vehicle.
At 9.55pm last night, police attended a residence in Woree and located a 16-year-old Woree boy in possession of one of the allegedly stolen puppies. He was taken into custody and the puppy was immediately return to the owner.
The 16-year-old boy was later charged with entering a dwelling and receiving tainted property. He was further charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and entering a dwelling for unrelated matters. He was refused police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.
At around 2am this morning, November 16, police attended an Edmonton home and located a 16-year-old Bentley Park boy alleged to be involved in the theft of the puppies. Police located one of the puppies hidden under a bed.
Police seized the allegedly stolen puppy along with jewellery and clothing from the Edmonton home. The puppy was immediately returned to the owner.
The 16-year-old Bentley Park boy was charged with entering a dwelling and receiving tainted property. He was refused police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.

Robbery, Manunda

Detectives from the Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a 17-year-old Manoora boy and an 18-year-old Rosslea woman following investigations into an alleged robbery on Grove Street, Manunda at around 6pm yesterday, November 15.
A 14-year-old boy was riding his electric scooter on Fearnley Street when the pair cut him off with their bike. The boy was forced to stop, and the 17-year-old allegedly took his scooter.
When the young boy attempted to take back his scooter, the 17-year-old allegedly punched him in the face. The pair fled with the boys’ scooter and mobile phone.
The 14-year-old boy was treated at the scene by emergency services for facial injuries.
A short time later, police attended and Anderson Street home where the two alleged offenders were located and taken into police custody. It is further alleged police located and seized the stolen scooter and mobile phone.
The 18-year-old woman was charged with robbery in company, she is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 1.
The 17-year-old boy was charge with robbery, stealing and two counts of breaching a bail condition. He was refused police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.

Vehicle theft and property charges, Cairns North

Detectives have charged a 28-year-old Palm Island woman and a 25-year-old North Ward woman after they were allegedly intercepted driving a stolen utility on Law Street at Cairns North yesterday, November 14.
It is alleged the women stole the BT-50 from a West End property on November 11.
Officers from the Tactical Crime Squad spotted the vehicle around 11am and took the women into custody.
Police will also allege the pair were involved in vehicle theft, property and driving related offences between Cairns and Townsville from July 28 to November 14.
The 28-year-old Palm Island woman was charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of stealing.
The 25-year-old North Ward woman was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of fare evasion, stealing, receiving tainted property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Both women are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court

High range drink driver, Bungalow

A 22-year-old Bayview Heights man has been charged with traffic offences after he was stopped by officers on Spence Street on Saturday, November 11.
Around 2.40am officers intercepted the Impreza hatchback after they observed the vehicle allegedly being driven in a dangerous manner.
It is alleged the man returned a positive roadside breath test and was transported to Cairns Police Station for further testing where he provided a breath alcohol reading of 0.157.
The 22-year-old was charged with driving whilst under the influence of liquor, failing to display P plates and driving a vehicle without an interlock fitted as required.
He is scheduled to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 27.

Scooter thief charged, Parramatta Park

A 48-year-old Cairns man has been charged after he was allegedly located in possession of stolen scooter on Charles Street around 12.10am on Saturday, November 11.
The scooter was reported stolen from bike racks on the Esplanade Lagoon after the owner had left it secured with a bike lock and chain.
Officers stopped to speak to the man after he was spotted riding a bicycle while towing an electric scooter. Further inspection of the scooter revealed it was the one allegedly stolen earlier from the Esplanade.
Police seized the scooter and issued the man with a Notice to Appear in Court, charged with unlawful possession of property suspected of being stolen

Man charged, assault occasioning bodily harm, Manunda

Detectives have charged a 66-year-old Manunda man following investigations into a serious assault at an English Street residence around 6.10am yesterday, November 5.
Police will allege just after 6am, the man was involved in an altercation with his 60-year-old neighbour and struck him over the head with a garden spade, resulting in a laceration to his head.
It will be further alleged the man later obstructed an officer at the watchhouse when he attempted to grab the officers taser.
The man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and serious assault of a police officer. He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today. QP2301846081

Armed man charged, Manunda

A 32-year-old Bungalow man has been charged with dangerous conduct with a weapon after he was located by first response officers on Alfred Street on Saturday, November 4.
Officers were called just after 1am after the man allegedly approached people in the area waving a knife and making verbal threats.
Police located the man on the corner of Alfred and Mayers Street.
It is alleged officers seized a hunting style knife after locating it further down the street.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 21

Indecent assault charges, Cairns City

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 31-year-old Bexley man following investigations into the alleged indecent assault of a woman in her 20s on Grafton Street on Saturday, November 4.
It will be alleged around 12:30am the man approached and sat next to the woman who was seated on a bench outside a Grafton Street shop, before allegedly groping her.
It is further alleged a witness attempted to intervene and was then assaulted by the 31-year-old man and a 33-year-old man.
The 31-year-old was charged with sexual assault and possession of a dangerous drug.
The 33-year-old was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
Both men are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 21. QP2301838524

Property charges Manunda

A 21-year-old Manunda woman has been charged after allegedly stealing a car on November 3.
The Mazda sedan was stolen from a Shearer Avenue residence just after 1pm and was abandoned around 5pm on Anderson Street.
Tactical Crime Squad officers conducted a search of an Anderson Street unit and found the woman pretending to be asleep on a mattress.
Detectives later charged with 21-year-old with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count each of entering a premises, stealing, entering a dwelling, receiving tainted property and unlicenced driving.
She is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 20.

Witness appeal, fatal traffic crash, Milla Milla

Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are seeking information from witnesses following a fatal motorbike crash on East Evelyn Rd near Milla Milla that occurred between November 4 and 5.
Sadly, a 32-year-old Westcourt man died when his motorbike left the roadway.
Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or saw the man riding his motorbike prior to the crash. The 32-year-old man left Edmonton around 4.30pm on November 4 and was heading towards Ravenshoe via the Gillies Highway.
He was riding a gold and red 2001 Yamaha XVS1600 motorcycle with QLD registration SNP19. He was wearing a black open-face motorcycle helmet, a high vis-shirt, jeans, and boots.
Anyone who may have seen him, or has information, is urged to contact police.

Youths arrested on roof, Cairns North

A 12-year-old Manunda boy and a 13-year-old Westcourt boy were taken into custody after they were located on the roof of a Cairns North childcare centre on Sunday afternoon, November 5.
Police were called after the boys were disturbed by witnesses after the attempted to entry an office building via the roof. Officers attended on located the pair a short distance away on the roof of the childcare centre.
It will be alleged the pair were also involved in a break and enter at a Westcourt shopping centre on November 4.
Both boys were charged with two counts of entering a premises, and one count each of attempting to enter a premises and trespass.
They are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens court at a later date.

Motorbike rider makes the wrong call, Gordonvale

A 21-year-old Bayview Heights man received over $1600 in fines after he allegedly used his mobile phone while riding his motorbike on Riverstone Road at Gordonvale around 11:15am on Sunday, November 5.
Officers from the Highway Patrol Unit intercepted the rider after they spotted the man trying to look down and use his phone in one hand while attempting to steer with the other hand.
He was issued traffic infringement notices for using a hand-held mobile phone, failing to display learner plates, and not riding under the direction of an authorised supervisor. The fines accumulated 10 demerit points.

Traffic crash, Smithfield

Forensic Crash Investigators are appealing for witnesses following a two vehicle crash on the Smithfield Bypass Road around 9.45am yesterday, November 2.
It is alleged a truck travelling south collided with a vehicle travelling north.
Emergency services remained on scene while the highway was closed. It reopened at 4.20pm.
The 44-year-old truck driver from Clifton Beach was extricated from his vehicle and treated for arm and leg injuries.
The 61-year-old driver of a Toyota Rav 4 from Brisbane was not injured, however his vehicle was extensively damaged.

Assault occasioning bodily harm charges, Westcourt

A 40-year-old Cairns North man has been charged with multiple offences after he allegedly assaulted a police officer around 12.30am this morning, November 3.
Police were attending to a disturbance at an Earl Street property when the man allegedly approached and began verbally abusing and threatening the officers.
It is alleged the man was not involved in the initial disturbance.
Police allege the man threw objects at the officers, hitting one officer in the face before scratching the officer’s neck and face and ripping his uniform.
The man was charged with one count each of assault police, obstruct police, wilful damage of police property and possess utensils
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 20.

Smithfield Criminal Investigation Branch detectives arrested a 41-year-old woman yesterday, November 2 after she allegedly stole a designer handbag from a display cabinet in a Cairns store on October 29.
She was charged with one count of stealing and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 20.

Dangerous operation of a vehicle, Atherton

Far North District Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) has arrested a 31-year-old Mount Garnet man, over a string of property offences.
Officers took the man into custody around 3pm yesterday, October 30, at a Woree business.
It will be alleged the man committed multiple driving and property related offences, which included break ins and stealing from businesses, fuel theft, dangerous driving, unlawful use of motor vehicles and evading police across the Tablelands, dating back to September.
It is further alleged he rammed a police vehicle multiple times in Mount Garnet on October 5, and again on October 28 at Atherton and Evelyn.
Tableland Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detectives yesterday charged him with a total of 30 charges including three counts each of dangerous driving and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle intended for an indictable offence, seven counts of stealing, six counts of evade police, nine counts of enter premises and commit indictable offences, two counts of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offences.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

Assault occasioning bodily harm charge, Manoora

Cairns CIB detectives have charged a 27-year-old Cairns man following an investigation into a violent assault on a 21-year-old Manoora man in Murray Street, early on Monday, October 30.
It will be alleged the older man punched the 21-year-old whilst he was standing outside a unit complex around 12.20am on Monday. The man sustained bruising and a cut to his face.
The men are not known to each other.
A 27-year-old Cairns man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and common assault.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 15.

Property crime charges, Cairns

Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad yesterday arrested a 14-year-old Manoora boy in Mooroobool, over alleged property offences
It will be alleged the boy stole property from businesses in Cairns and Mount Sheridan over the past two months and damaged two cars in Cairns yesterday.
He was charged multiple offences, including two counts of wilful damage, one count of possess thing intended for use and three counts of enter premises.
He is due to appear at Cairns Childrens Court on November 10.

Assault charge, Cairns City

A 37-year-old woman has been charged over an alleged assault on Lake Street around 3pm yesterday, October 30.
It will be alleged the woman crossed the road behind the victim, an 82-year-old man, before yelling at him and attempting to block his path
She then allegedly pushed him to the ground, injuring the man.
During her arrest, she is accused of repeatedly failing to comply with police instructions and was yelling profanities in front of everyone.
She has been charged with serious assault of a person over 60, obstruct police and commit public nuisance.
She is expected to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court today, October 31.
