💀👕🎡DMF _ Sunday21st _ 11am-4pm

There are very few DIY Jugular bits or bobs in the present day world of broken arms and office jobs. The buck has perhaps been passed on for now, and we do not know quite where that buck will end up.

Yet, there are Jugularesque things. Myself, Zoe, Sof and Ruby will be making Tshirts and helping rep the pastiche joys of the amatuerist arts just before Christmas.

__ Dead Merch: because art lives in context and that process leaves artifacts which only live and change through others experience. So, we celebrate the creative process by irreverent trade of its product, clearing the way for another year of making things.

Art market and open day at the Buff. Spread across three floors (basement included) to present whatever it is that caused the Buffalo to roam: screen printing workshops, resident record labels, curios, exhibits, and a few tales of the Buffalo for the curious.

There will be toasties, coffee and a couple DJ booths securing us within the ambiance of the summer solstice. Come along and take an art home 😗

Judith Huang has had many of her beautiful Singaporean Australian words slipped into many beautiful books, including one of her very own. That last one is called Sofia and the Utopia Machine and it made it onto important shortlists for important prizes. Now she is building her own utopia machine in real life. But don't you worry your pretty little head, she is more than qualified to do such things - she has been building worlds since was a kid and these day also founds events and teaches and translates and performs and all sorts.

This Thursday, she will be performing .wormofficial. What worlds might be created or exploded there?

Zeppo is an extreme. They have sat down in the most extreme sense, which is an actual thing, and is more like break dancing with a stool. They have also moved in similar ways on poles, and on unicycles, and through the more extreme corners of delivering words, such as motivational speaking, and possibly the most extreme of all, which is stand up comedy. Or maybe poetry is the most extreme one, or improvising on guitar, or telling stories. Any or all of these things could happen on Thursday night at Early Worm at the Buff. Nobody knows what is going to happen. Not even us.

Jo Giles lives in a train carriage on Beelier Noogar boodja. They are non-binary, they have cistic fibrosis, and they slam so hard they win. They win the poetry slams, over and over - the Perth one, the Australian one, the one that took them all the way to the Opera House. They arrive on stage with an air of calm intensity and deliver rhymes hard and funny without breaking eye contact with the whole room. You could be recipient of that eye contact. You could be slammed in a way that makes your brain reel and your heart churn and your throat laugh. It’s a real good feeling, promise.

Jugular has helped in making DIY space since maybe 2012. Most recently, it's been good to help set the Fremantle Buffalo on course.

Being able to make space is a nice thing. It's something that depends on what energy we have available, and whether there is a place to land.

We are restarting the Early Worm monthly shows on their own platform, allowing this jugular thing to exist in future for the next place and idea.

If you like themed absurdity, then follow Early Worm nights at the Buff. Otherwise, see you whenever jugular next gambles with space and art.

🎭🌷 Crisp summer morning in the valley and we got Esther Winter Forest tonight.

Presenting Oracular, a stop-motion and mixed-media animation about a psychic who awaits calls from seekers of divine answers within a simulated city.

Gather the odd bods and venture to a surreal Saturday film night. 7ish tonight.

🎮🫕__TOMOZ_Sat 18th_Remnant Games
Once upon a time existed, secretly harbouring a generic name, while touting the cool nickname Rum Buck.

Rum Buck was so enamoured by other peoples enthusiasm, specifically the gaming community, that she allied with several dangerous subversives to make a DIY video game exhibit.

This was a ridiculously ambitious project. If you know anything about the annoying idiosyncracies of computers and game tech, making a loose DIY party around them is like building a fort out of cheese in the summer heat.

So, the cheese fort rose and they called it Potluck, even though there was no food only crispies. They reigned for a thousand days, and many projects have been since lost to space/time/boredom.

Rum Buck will cart in a few remnant games of this cheese-smelling era tomozzos. Enjoy the silliness and thanks for reading the story of Rum Buck.

__Sat 18th 🥀 🎞 Oakabella Mae presents a film for the sit-in.

Cherophobe is an independently produced music video shot by talented cinematographer Tabitha Murdoch for Oakabella Mae, a q***r neurodivergent artist based out of Boorloo.

It follows the inner conflict and dialogue of a person that is holding on to things that no longer serve them, eventually succumbing to the process of letting it all go, and being better off for it.

Jan 18 📼🏠__ The past is spooky, the future is spooky, everything is spooky. WHY ARE YOU YELLING?

First in Saturdays exhibit of exhumed film nonsense, .g.wayman, who totally writes these things. I'll let himnspeak for himself:

"I found these old tapes, with home videos on one side and taped films on the other. We had a pretty jank childhood and you can kinda see my stepdad was cooked, at times. Making the video, with my improv band playing over it, was really cathartic.

It felt like a celebration of something that will always be what it was. Childhood is making fun in whatever circumnstances. Playfullness is essential, and those violent 90s Schwarzenegger movies are homely in that way, as they were, essentially, playful."
