This month we gave a couple of the Seeds for Snapper seeding sites in Cockburn Sound a quick check with the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). A handy tool we can deploy quickly for monitoring work and more, provided as part of our community partnership with Water Corporation. Young plants look like they are thriving🌱

On Sunday we held the last Seeds for Snapper event for 2025 with our volunteer thankyou BBQ by the beach in Coogee. A fantastic group of volunteers came along to share salty tales and hear the new record for fruit collection announced. 3 025 0678 Posidonia fruits were collected this season, an amazing effort from the local community that will have a lasting impact.

The 2025 Golden Net Award for outstanding efforts in fruit collection went to Betsy, who showed true dedication this season, setting a new record with 30 collection dives including her 700th. Previous Golden Net winners and Best Buddy Pair 2025 Bruce and Natali were on hand to help present the Golden Net.

Marina Hatch was the winner of our inaugural Golden Bucket Award for outstanding efforts onshore and around the tanks. We love how Marina makes new volunteers feel welcome and is always bringing new people along to experience seagrass restoration.

And the closest guess to the grand total... Betsy again, followed by Nat and Sarah, who all dove on the last day and helped get just past the 3m mark. Thanks to all that helped celebrate a milestone season and everyone that helped us get there. See you back next year🌱🌱🌱

Seeds for Snapper 2025- Day 30
Total Seeds Dispersed- 2 118 000

Last official day of the season on Tuesday saw us drain the tanks, switch off the pumps and roll up the hoses for another year. It always seems a little too quiet when then pumps are off but they are on their way for a well deserved service.

Another 180 000 seeds dispersed south of the grain terminal in Rockingham with Roy as well as the remaining husks and unopened fruit returned to the sea. We are sure you will be finding seeds in your boat for months, if not years to come Janine, sorry for the mess!

Thanks to all of the volunteers who make this project such a pleasure to work on, we hope to see you back next year! In the meantime, don't forget our end of season celebration event next weekend🌱🌱🌱

The end is in sight🥱but we still have 2 days left at the tanks to get through the last of the seeds and deliver them to restoration sites. Another 200 000 seeds went in today as we reached 22 seeding sites for the year. A fantastic crew around the tanks today with some of our regular husk pickers and seed sorters getting their hands wet once again.

Dom will need all the help he can get to finish up, there are 2 more events, 12-4pm Saturday and Sunday, Mangles Bay Fishing Club. No need to register or experience necessary, just turn up and stay for as long as you like. If you get stuck at the gate call 0426292411🌱🌱🌱

Seeds for Snapper 2025- Day 21

3 000 000+ fruit collected for seagrass restoration in 3 weeks! On our final collection on the last dive day of the season we cracked 3 million! What an outstanding effort from all involved 👏

Thanks to all the onshore and offshore volunteers and our little Ozfish team who helped make this happen. With a record number of fruit in the tanks, we need to get a record number of seeds out for maximum impact, still lots of work to do at the tanks this week, get amongst it!

Great to celebrate tonight and farewell Zoe and Emma with some of our most dedicated vollies before they head home tomorrow. If you want to hear the final numbers for the season, you will need to come down to our end of season event 14 December, details to follow🌱💚🌱
