It’s been a busy week for the Freestone Rural Fire Brigade!

Our crew had the opportunity to assist neighbouring brigades, responding to two separate fires at Junabee and Karrara. While it’s always serious work, it’s great to be out there supporting each other and keeping our communities safe.

A big shoutout to all the volunteers who give their time and effort—teamwork like this makes all the difference! 🚒🔥

Today the Freestone RFB had the pleasure of visiting our neighbours at Maryvale. 🚒

It was a valuable opportunity to learn more about the country in this neighbouring region, helping us better understand the landscape, access points, and local conditions. Building this knowledge ensures we’re well prepared to respond effectively in the event of a fire.

Strong partnerships and local insight are key to protecting our communities — thank you to the Maryvale crew for having us! 👏🔥

Over the weekend, the Freestone and District Rural Fire Brigade were apart of a fantastic Street Meet with our local community. 🚒

It was a great opportunity to connect with residents, get to know local properties better, and have important conversations around fire prevention and property preparedness. These catch-ups help us all stay informed, prepared, and ready to protect what matters most.

Thank you to everyone who came along for a chat and took the time to discuss fire management strategies. Community involvement plays a vital role in keeping Freestone safe.

If you’d like to learn more about how to prepare your property or are interested in joining the brigade, feel free to reach out or come see us at the shed on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm.

These conditions have been challenging, but the teamwork, skill and dedication shown by crews on the ground has been nothing short of incredible. We’re proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow brigades and grateful for the ongoing support from our local community.
