Brisbane Makerspace will be closed to the public tonight as we transition to our new space at Woolloongabba! Open nights will continue on Monday the 7th of September at our new location, 35 Balaclava St, Woolloongabba.

Greetings to our BMS community,

As many of you know we are moving from our Fortitude Valley space to our new home in Wooloongabba!

Packing has begun at the Fortitude Valley space, with the space closing to members on Friday the 28th of August. From Friday access will not be permitted unless you are helping at the Friday, Saturday, or Sunday working bee, with the new space opening to members only on Monday 31st of August. The open nights will resume from Monday the 7th of September.

If you want to help, you are invited to at any time and without asking in advance.

The new property is at 35 Balaclava St, Woolloongabba.

We’d like to give a big thank you to our community for being accommodating during this time, we can’t wait to share our new space with everyone and hope you all love it just as much as we do.

Friday working bee: primary goal is to move everything remaining circled in green (and in basement) to the new property.

Saturday working bee: primary goal is to move everything else on site to the new property. We'll hire a small truck to assist with this. We'll need to move the vending machines and this will require very special attention for safety. They will be switched off and pulled apart into individual parts to make them lighter on Wednesday.

Sunday working bee: primary goal is to clean everything and move the remaining bits and pieces. everything needs to be out by the end of Sunday. Then the next few days will be spent cleaning and repairing everything.

Brisbane Makerspace is moving!

After extensive discussions with our community and members about accessibility, floor space, location and budget, BMS have made an offer on a new space!

The new space will have room for both a wood and metal shop, space for larger projects, and is still close enough to public/active transport in a much safer area.

But to make the move happen we need your help. With a tax deductible donation we can guarantee the upfront moving costs. All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. All donations, big or small are appreciated!

We hope this new space will be a boom to our community and we cant wait to show it to you all.

Just a reminder that the usual BMS Monday social night will be closed to the public this Labour Day. Members are still free to come in and enjoy the space as always, but there is no guarantee any volunteers will be available for tours/inductions. Have a happy and safe weekend!

BMS will be closed to the public this Easter Monday. The Monday social nights will reopen to the public on the 13th of April. The space will still be open to members over the long weekend.
