Earlier this year, the HADR Institute’s Hannah Stoios travelled to Nadi, Fiji for Airlink's APAC Disaster Logistics Workshop. 📖
📝 The workshop was a chance to listen to local leaders and learn from the coordination and logistics challenges they navigate first-hand during a response.
Over the few days, the workshop:
🔹 Brought together a range of regional partners across humanitarian, NGO, government, civil society and private sectors
🔹 Helped to better understand the coordination and logistic challenges commonly faced during disaster response in the Pacific region.
🔹 Highlighted how cross-sector collaboration is essential to disaster preparedness and relief in the Pacific.
Hannah also had the chance to share HADRI's Q2 Anticipatory Action Forecast Briefing, to help inform early planning and give partners a clearer picture before the next event hits.
🌏 That's the role that HADRI seeks to play. We focus on being a back-of-house partner, to support and resource local responders where we can, and back the people who are already leading.
Because when disaster strikes in the Pacific, it's local responders – community leaders, national agencies, and civil society across the region – who lead the way. They know their communities, their geography, and what their people need.
