Shout-out to Greg from Forster Surf Life Saving Club’s Emergency Call-Out Team who was first on scene for a call-out at 13:50 today with reports of an inflatable in distress being pulled out through the Wallis Lake entrance.

Greg not only prepped the jet ski launch solo in the rain and wind, but took a certain amount of convincing to don a wetsuit before heading out😂 🥶

Fortunately, after a quick search of nearby beaches outside the entrance, it was suspected that the POI had managed to safely return to the harbour without intervention. A stand-down was issued for others who responded to the call-out.

While the pic might look like a friendly conversation between Greg and ‘the cause of worry’, I’m sure there was a stern reminder in there about the use of communications with Marine Rescue Forster Tuncurry before crossing the bar.

Props to the LNC Branch DO’s and RWC operators for swift responses - as always.

Surf Life Saving NSW is hosting an Advanced IRB Skills Development Program at Cape Hawke SLSC on 18-19 of April 2026.

Previously delivered as the Australian Lifesaving Boat Emergency Rescue Training (ALBERT), this program utilises a mixture of drill-based activities, dedicated coaching, and scenario-based training to enhance operator skills and experiences, and to grow confidence through a collaborative approach amongst participants.

The program is open to proficient patrolling lifesavers who have obtained their IRB Crew Certificate and/or Silver Medallion IRB Drivers Certificate. This program is ideal for members of ALL levels of experience. ❤️💛

The LNC Branch Championships were hosted at One Mile Beach, Forster today, and while the conditions weren’t as pristine as we’ve seen this location in the past, they were much better than what we had been expecting after the week of NE winds and warmer ocean currents.

Our humble six little clubs produced some strong competition from U8s through to Masters. There were smiles galore as results flowed in to the recorder’s tent.

We will share a complete wrap-up in the coming week, but for now, we wish to congratulate the host club, Cape Hawke SLSC, on not only a well organised event, but also for taking out the trifecta of championship point-score awards:

Junior Champions: Cape Hawke
Senior Champions: Cape Hawke
Club Champions: Cape Hawke

We also wish to congratulate Daniel from Forster SLSC and Tallow from Crowdy Head SLSC for winning the Junior Lifesaver Of The Year Awards, which were announced and presented with before competition started today. Well done!
We wish you the best as you represent our Branch at the SLSNSW awards later this year.

We wish to thank all officials and water safety from Crowdy Head Surf Life Saving Club, Black Head Surf Life Saving Club, Forster Surf Life Saving Club, Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club, andPacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club - without whom, this carnival would have been unable to go ahead.

❤️💛 1 December is National Water Safety Day 2025 ❤️💛

We wish to thank our volunteer lifesavers of Crowdy Head Surf Life Saving Club, Taree Old Bar Surf Life Saving Club (Official), Black Head Surf Life Saving Club, Forster Surf Life Saving Club, Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club, and Pacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club for their vigilance on the water in the wake of the tragic incident at Kylie's beach in the North of Crowdy Bay last week.

All patrols made a concerted effort to reassure swimmers and the public by increasing the presence of powered SLS watercraft on the water with IRB's and RWC's performing more regular shark deterrence manoeuvres along our coastlines.

Our thoughts are with everyone involved in the three separate incidents within the Surf Life Saving Mid North Coast Branch over the last 4 days, and continuing today.

As we head into Summer, Surf Life Saving Australia and our SLSLNC clubs wish to remind people to:

• Always supervise children around water
• Swim at a patrolled beach between the red and yellow flags
• Learn swimming and lifesaving skills
• Wear a lifejacket when boating, rock fishing or on watercraft
• Avoid alcohol and drugs around water
• Know your limits and the conditions

Prefer to stay dry? No worries! You can still play a crucial role in our lifesaving community without stepping into the water (though your feet may get sandy!).

You can learn to save lives as a First Aider or Advanced Resuscitation Technician on the beach and become a valuable part of a volunteer surf patrol for our community. ❤️💛

🚨 SEARCH AT PACIFIC PALMS 🚨

Surf Life Saving NSW members continue to assist NSW Police and partner agencies today in the ongoing search for a missing hang glider pilot last seen departing Lindeman’s Point, north of Elizabeth Beach, yesterday afternoon.

Our teams from across the Lower North Coast have returned to the water this morning, deploying RWCs, IRBs, and UAVs to search the coastline between Seven Mile Beach and Blueys Beach.

This multi-agency effort includes NSW Police Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW RFS, NSW SES, and the TOLL Rescue Helicopter.

Teams are preparing this evening for day 3 tomorrow.

We thank all agencies and volunteers involved for their professionalism, coordination, and ongoing commitment to the search. ❤️💛
