As devastating floods continue to affect Taree and surrounding communities, we pause to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone working on the frontlines during this crisis.
As a furtther update, Kempsey area is seeing a rise in river levels and flooding starting. For those in land lease communities located along the Macleay River, please stay tuned to the SES Website or news channels about evacuation orders.
To the dedicated members of the SES, firefighters, police, paramedics, rescue pilots, volunteers, and all first responders — thank you. Your courage, commitment, and selflessness in the face of danger are extraordinary. We especially acknowledge the tireless work of PolAir crews conducting rescues around the clock, and extend our thanks to Twin Dolphins Caravan Park in Tuncurry for generously providing emergency evacuation accommodation.
You are out there, day and night, placing yourselves at risk to rescue stranded families, support vulnerable residents, protect animals, and deliver vital aid to those cut off by floodwaters. Whether wading through dangerous currents or flying into treacherous conditions, your strength and resolve bring safety, hope, and stability to our communities.
The images of rooftop rescues, families lifted from rising waters, and animals carried to higher ground reflect the compassion and determination behind every act. We see the exhaustion — but we also see unwavering purpose.
To those supporting behind the scenes — in control centres, coordinating logistics, and distributing supplies — your efforts are just as vital, and your work does not go unnoticed.
Thank you to my local communities of Forster and Tuncurry and Pacific Palms, where thousands of donations are taking place of food, blankets, clothing and pet food, and the many hundreds of volunteers lining up to assist.
In times of crisis, it is the generosity, courage, and resilience of people like you that reminds us of the power of community and the best of humanity.
From all of us — thank you.
