Our Story
The Footscray Community Bike Shed is a Footscray Rotary initiative bringing together local service providers, bike enthusiasts and refugees and asylum seekers in need of wheels.
The shed takes unwanted donated bikes of all shapes and sizes.
Volunteer mechanics give the bikes a good service and clean.
Bikes are given away to people in need.
All bike recipients are prepared with a bike safety session delivered by our lovely friends at Footscray AMES.
All bikes are also kitted up complete with a helmet, lock, bell and lights so recipients are ready to ride out of the shed in safety.
The bike shed is always looking for donated bikes which are in good condition and volunteer mechanics who like to tinker with bikes.
If you would like to get involved or donate a bike visit the bike shed on any given Saturday between 11am - 3pm.
We’re a friendly welcoming bunch who are doing our bit for building a healthy sense of community and sustainable transport.
We acknowledge the Ancestors, Elders, and families of the Boonwurrung and Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri) people, the traditional custodians of the land. Sovereignty never ceded.
