ASRC Foodbank

ASRC Foodbank The ASRC Foodbank operates as a free grocery store for people seeking asylum who have nowhere else t Food can be donated in person or purchased online.

Since the onset of Covid, our self-select Foodbank has temporarily switched to a pre-packed model. We provide food, toiletries and other household essentials to more than 1000 people. Most of these people rely on the ASRC Foodbank as their only source of food as they have no work rights and no income. The majority of this food is donated by the community, including schools, individuals, families,

religious groups and other community groups. We cannot continue to provide this service without your support. Further information can be found on our website https://asrc.org.au/ways-to-give/donate-food-and-goods/

Please check our pinned post to see which items are most urgently needed right now. Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference.

Today we said goodbye to one of our wonderful volunteers, Hiro, over cake and gratitude πŸ’›

Hiro has been a steady, generous presence, showing up week after week at the Community Kitchen in Footscray, and helping keep things running for our community.

To all our volunteers, your presence makes this work possible every day.

For Pam, volunteering at the Foodbank is about turning compassion into action.

What started as a simple decision to give her time has become something deeply meaningful β€” a way to stand alongside community, offer practical support, and be part of real, everyday impact.

Pam’s story is a reminder that volunteering isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up. And sometimes, showing up is everything.

A huge thank you to Pam for sharing her heart and her time at the Foodbank πŸ’š

Feeling so grateful and inspired πŸ’›

Minaret College hosted a Ramadan food drive and truly went above and beyond, surprising us with an incredible $3,500 donation of essential, culturally appropriate items for Eid β€” from oil and rice to legumes and sweet treats.

They also created beautiful Eid Mubarak cards, which we’ll be sharing with families at our foodbank this week.

This is what community looks like β€” generosity, compassion, and people coming together to support one another during such a meaningful time. πŸŒ™βœ¨

Thank you Minaret College community for helping spread love this Eid.
