Your gift will help vulnerable people like Tom living in the west to recover safely in their homes and regain their quality of life. Tom, a 50-year-old man with severe rheumatoid arthritis, needed a special autofit sock to manage his wound but was unable to afford it. Because of the Greatest Need Program, we were able to purchase the special sock Tom needed. Donate now:

At Western Health, we want you to get well and stay well, so much of that relies on patients being able to get back to their daily life safely. Our staff recently helped Hamid*, an asylum seeker on dialysis who couldn't afford his life-saving medication without Medicare subsidies. Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in need for food vouchers, clothing, blankets and short term accomodation. We were able to help a new mum, who delivered her baby prematurely at 32 weeks and was unprepared. She had limited family support and was experiencing financial hardship. Our Social Work team provided a cot, a breast pump, baby formula, bottles, and a sterilizer. These items were all funded from our Greatest Need Program because of generous donors like you. Last week, we had the privilege of hosting a special afternoon tea at Sunshine Hospital to honour our incredible Vietnamese community, whose extraordinary generosity has raised almost $600,000 for the new Footscray Hospital and our new robotic surgery machine.

It was heartwarming to gather with 30 of our dedicated supporters who are each playing a part in delivering world-class healthcare to Melbourne's west. Each attendee received a special letter and commemorative pin in recognition of their outstanding commitment to our community's health and wellbeing.

Attended by our CEO, Prof. Russell Harrison, Western Health Foundation Director Sharon Read, Executive Director People, Culture and Communications Sandy Schutte, Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan OAM of Chùa Quang Minh, community fundraising committee member Dr Nhan Pham and Vietnamese Community in Australia - Victorian Chapter representative Mr Hiep Nguyen, the event highlighted our shared purpose of providing best care to every member of our community in the west.

As Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan OAM said, “We are deeply honoured to support Western Health’s mission to deliver inclusive, high-quality care to all, especially multicultural communities like ours.”

Thank you to our Vietnamese community for demonstrating the remarkable difference we can make when we come together with a shared vision for better healthcare. Together, we're building a healthier future for everyone across Melbourne's west.

What an incredible evening at our Women+ for Western Health Pitch Night, hosted by comedian and personality of the West, Diana Nguyen. The energy in the room was electric as we witnessed three exceptional teams presenting their ground-breaking healthcare innovations for a chance to win a $50,000 grant.

Congratulations to Dr Suzy Kosmider and Dr Grace Gard, who won the grant for their project: Saving Babies – Delivering best care to our WH families.

This vital funding will help reduce smoking rates among maternity patients through the Smoking Telehealth Outpatient Program (STOP) Clinic, creating healthier outcomes for mothers and babies across Melbourne's west.
