Have you ever experienced live music so powerful that a chill surged up your spine?

The energy. The sound. The exhilaration!

Our next concert will deliver it all as we take you on an immersive journey through the Romantic period, featuring Liszt's dramatic symphonic suite Les Preludes, Tchaikovsky’s shimmering Nutcracker Suite and Borodin’s intoxicating, rhythmic Polovtsian Dances. Be captivated by the rustic charm of Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite no.1 and the soaring, lyrical melodies of Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture.

Let the music move you.

Feel it. Live.

From the very beginning, at the heart of the IWSO, was a deep commitment to create a community.

And, what a community it has become!

The people you see here volunteer their time and talents to keep things running. They are supported by a rich and diverse group of artists with a shared passion for bringing classical music to Melbourne’s west.

Happy National Volunteer Week from the IWSO 🧡

Bringing live orchestral music to people in our community is at the very heart of what we do.

Janene was in the audience for the first time at our last concert, and we’re pretty sure it won’t be the last time. It’s a common response from our first-timers ☺️

If you want to know what keeps our audiences coming back, keep an eye out for news about our next concert: Sunday 2 August, 2 pm.

We know you won’t be disappointed 🧡

What an afternoon! It’s fair to say, the IWSO brought the 1920s roaring back to life last Sunday 🤩👏🏻🧡

And we couldn’t have done it without our beautiful audience who filled Williamstown Town Hall, showing us once again, the incredible power of music to bring people together, to move, to delight and to enthrall.

Thank you to the Mayor of Maribyrnong, Cr Mohamed Semra, for his warm and welcoming opening address, and to our loyal and generous sponsors for their ongoing support: Community Bank Seddon, Documents on Call and Stick It Percussion. We could not do this without you.

It was also great to welcome one of our local MPs (and keen choralist), Katie Hall, to the IWSO family.

What’s next? Well, we’ve headed straight into rehearsing the repertoire for our next concert on SUNDAY 2 AUGUST at 2 pm.

All we can say now is … you’ll love it 😉
Stay tuned! 🎶

Meet our guest soloist, Bingyao Liu!

Bingyao will be playing the yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer) in our performance of Kodály’s ‘Háry János Suite’.

A versatile performer, Bingyao has performed across China, the US and Australia in ensembles ranging from traditional Chinese orchestras to contemporary cross-cultural collaborations and folk music.

We are delighted to have Bingyao performing with us. So much so, that you’ll also spot her lending her talents to our percussion section during Gershwin’s ‘An American in Paris’! 😉🧡

Only one more sleep till concert day. Grab your tickets if you haven’t already!

Meet our BOLÉRO presenters, Michelle and Ali!

Michelle leads our second violins, and Ali is one of our longest-serving cellists.

At our concert on Sunday, they’ll be briefly stepping away from their sections to entertain and enlighten our audience about the pieces we are playing.

Our musicians really are a multi-talented lot 🧡

We love this photo of IWSO violinist, Jenny…

It captures all the concert-day feelings in one fleeting moment: excitement, purpose, anticipation, joy ...

Jenny has been with the IWSO since the beginning and will be one of our dedicated musicians bringing yet another live classical music experience to our community at Williamstown Town Hall this Sunday.

All the concert-day feelings. You’ll have to be there to feel it! 🧡🧡
