Another domestic violence death.
Perth.

My heart particularly aches knowing she was left suffering for days.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

AUSTRALIA WE HAVE A PROBLEM !

I wonder if Miss Hanson will continue to say it’s a two way street ?

Or if she was so fed up she should of left.

Maybe she tried leaving and the alleged perpetrator
Prevented her from doing so Miss Hanson.
Sadly we will never know the answer to that.

But my personal opinion of those horrible statements
Are just pure CALLOUS Pauline Hanson's Please Explain.

My god ENOUGH !

I am honoured to be asked to be a guest speaker at the Coercive Control and Family Violence Summit.

As a survivor and founder of Broken Crayons Still Colour Foundation, I am very outspoken on this subject.

Coercive Control is often put in the to hard basket,
Here in Western Australia, We do not yet have this as a stand alone criminal offence.

I am led to believe the state government are committed to a phased approach.

As family domestic violence deaths and critical incidents escalate, I would urge our government to fast track this phased approach, I for one and I know many other advocates have been extremely vocal and urged those in positions of authority to listen to those of us who have lived experience and especially those of us who work diligently in the domestic violence sector.

We know what we need more than anyone else who has not experienced the horrors of family domestic violence.

Coercive Control is where it all begins.

Secret Harbour, Western Australia

Is it true that family domestic violence is not really an issue ?

Once again I state it is absolutely none of my business who the people of Western Australia vote for.

But it is my business to have a opinion on Family Domestic Violence not only as founder of Broken Crayons Still Colour Foundation but as a survivor.

This is one of the most ignorant statements I have heard of late.

Whilst I appreciate he is not polished in giving interviews (I personally find this refreshing).
He clearly has not done his research/Due diligence on this topic.

Our client files which are strictly confidential for obvious reasons tell a very different story and absolutely abolish your ludicrous statement.

It also highlights something that I often speak about when I am speaking.

Silent Victims ( Regardless Of Gender )

So many victims remain silent for numerous reasons.

But what I can say LOUDLY , Secret Harbour most definitely have many victims/survivors who require assistance.

Some are in crisis
Some are homeless
Some need practical assistance such as food vouchers/Petrol vouchers, Clothing,Toiletries,Nappies, Formula.
Some require help with referrals.
Some require court support.

If you are picking up what I am putting down, You will understand there is a multitude of reasons.

I would personally would welcome the opportunity to sit down with you an educate you on why your statement
Domestic Violence Is Not Really An Issue is a false narrative and you sir are incorrect.

When it comes to political statements , At the very least be fully informed about what you are sprouting to your constituents.

Men this post is directed at you for you.

For a very long time I have noticed on post or articles about women being abused or sexually assaulted
Domestic Violence related or not,
Funding for Domestic Violence from our government to certain agencies all over the country.

There are many many actually hundreds of comments from men.

Saying what about men ?

Others respond sarcastically or with good intent that the post isn’t about men, Or if your so upset by it do something about it start your own charity etc etc…

It’s actually becoming quite frustrating to witness this day in day out.

So to every man who has an issue with this, I dedicate this post to you.

Broken Crayons Still Colour Foundation assist men too.
We are a fully registered charity with DGR Status.

We are trying our hardest to raise funds to provide a safe haven for you too.

We are a survivor led charity all volunteers and receive No Government Funding Whatsoever.

Why not join a foundation that assist all genders why not join us already established who work our butts off to not only save lives but also provide practical assistance to all.

Why not donate your time
Why not donate your skills
Why not hold a fundraiser for us to raise critical funds.
Why not donate financially (if in a position to do so )

Why not instead of whinging and being frustrated (I completely understand by the way )

Be productive and do something about it.

As a charity we would welcome you with open arms.

Many hands make light work so the saying goes.

So I ask you instead of holding on to built in rage and unfairness, Join us and help us to help all the men who are suffering.

Domestic Violence Does Not Discriminate and Neither Do We.

Feel free to share this far and wide to show men there is help out there .

Best Wishes

I actually had to listen to this a few times to ensure I understood exactly what she was saying .

Whilst the sentiment is admirable, There is no way on earth perpetrators are going to inform police they are in a new relationship regardless of gender.

Jo Palmer MLC I believe your heart is in the right place and you are correct Everyone deserves to enter a new relationship without hidden dangers.

But this is in my personal opinion absolutely ludicrous.

The domestic violence offenders registrar needs to be implemented again Nationwide including all genders.

We all have a role in keeping ourselves safe too and for those dipping their toes in the dating pool, A Registrar is a much easier instrument to access and also not adding extra workload to our police force makes much more sense.

But I do have a question ?

For example Sam ( could be any gender) calls police to inform that they are in a new relationship, Then what ?

Do police call Sam’s new partner to inform them Sam is a perpetrator of domestic violence?

How do they know who Sam’s new partner is ?, let alone contact details, Does this information place Sam’s new partner in potential danger because of potential conflict that could arise from this information.

With the upmost respect this is not well thought out.

Bring back the domestic violence registry which was useful and should never of been stopped in the first place.

Best Wishes

I must say I am impressed ✅

This is a definite step in a positive direction ✅

Whilst we wait to how this new initiative pans out, I definitely believe it will definitely be helpful for victims who often find themselves very overwhelmed.✅

I am manifesting it will be very good ✅

For victims of crime, support and assurance can be critical.

That's why we're making it easier to contact Police and support services through the new Victim Notification Service. 👮🚔

Through this new service, victims of certain crimes will receive an automated text message from the WA Police Force, giving them immediate confirmation of their Incident Report number and contact details for follow-up. 📱💬

The message will also provide links to relevant online resources, including information about safety, security and victim support services.

It's just one of the ways we're building safe and inclusive communities across Western Australia.

Another tragedy
Another domestic violence death.

And absolutely disgusting comments I have personally read on other post.

Why was she at his house, She can’t of been to scared
Wrote one.

If she wasn’t at his address, She would still be alive, Wrote another.

Let me educate these uneducated comments.

When we are in the depths of a domestic violence relationship it does not automatically mean we stop loving the perpetrator, Regardless of gender.

Trauma Bond is a real thing it exists.

How a trauma bond works.

The Cycle and Cause Intermittent Reinforcement:

The abuser alternates between cruelty, anger, or neglect and moments of intense love, regret, or kindness.

Brain chemistry: The highs and lows release dopamine and cortisol, which trick the brain into craving the next period of relief, overriding logical choices.

Power imbalance: The abuser holds control, leaving the target walking on eggshells and hyper-focused on keeping the peace.

I speak on my own domestic violence journey.

I loved my abuser once I was finally free, It took me a few years for that love to stop.
Not only was I grieving the horrific abuse I had endured but I was also grieving the loss of my relationship.

Perpetrators do not start the relationship abusing their partners.

Secondly there could be a number of reasons the victim was at the alleged perpetrators home.

He took her there against her will.
He had something that belonged to her for example a pet.

There could be multiple reasons, Regardless it does not give him a reason to kill her.

End of story.

RIP Beautiful Angel 🖤

Hello Beautiful Community.

We are seeking volunteers to help us operate Colour Me Beautiful High End Charity Shop.

Located 444 Cambridge Street
Floreat
Western Australia.

Hours of Operation.

Wednesday-Saturday 10am-3pm
Sunday- 10am-2pm.

Colour Me Beautiful is our very own social enterprise to help us raise critical funds to not only operate our two safe havens but also to hopefully secure a third safe haven, This one for male victims and their children.

Duties include selling our gorgeous vintage stock.
Chatting with customers about our work.
Setting up when opening and closing.

I absolutely love working in our little/Big shop but I simply cannot do 5 days in a row.
As many of you are aware I am battling incurable cancer and some days have me feeling less than ordinary.
Some days I tire very easily and for that reason I need to add to our volunteer list.

It is a beautiful place to volunteer so many beautiful items to bring a smile to your face.

I really would appreciate any help offered 🖤

Please comment if you can assist.

Many thanks Rach 🖤x

Sometimes we read people’s comments on our post and wonder if they are having a go or is it a genuine question.

One of these comments had us very puzzled and for confidentiality I will not publish their name only their comment.

What about a safe space for LGBTQ IA+ folk who are often in DV situations or is that beyond you.

My Reply.

Definitely not beyond us and we assist many, And actually have a wonderful gentleman who volunteers at our charity shop, We have many conversations on this topic you raised, But like I stated in the post, We are not government funded and we raise all our own resources.
So it’s definitely a plan in the future.
Maybe you could suggest a way of how we might raise these funds so we can achieve this vision much easier and faster, We would welcome any help 🖤

I thought it very important to address this comment because we often preach domestic violence does not discriminate and neither do we.

We do what we can, Where we can with the resources we have.

I wish I had a magic wand that we could secure numerous homes and renovate into beautiful safe havens, As we have done with our current two.
Regardless of gender or sexuality or race.

We have assisted many people from all walks of life including LGBTQ IA + Folk.

To assume we only assist straight people is a huge mistake and offensive to our work in this space.

Again - Domestic Violence Does Not Discriminate
Neither Do We.

The photograph below is our reception desk at our charity shop.

I think that bowl of badges speaks volumes 🖤
