Victorian Council Greek National Day On this day we celebrate the country’s independence, history and cultural heritage.

The Victorian Council for Greek National Day was established to plan, co-ordinate and host events commemorating the 25th of March - Greek National Day of Independence. The Greek National Day Parade unites the entire Hellenic Paroikia bringing together over 50 Organisations and 100 Greek Language Schools.

As Greek National Day approaches, our community prepares to come together to commemorate 205 years of Greek independence.

Families, children, schools, and community groups will once again gather near the Shrine of Remembrance and the Australian Hellenic Memorial to honour our history and celebrate our culture.

The day will begin with a Greek Australian Commemorative Service at the Shrine of Remembrance, attended by a small delegation of invited dignitaries, recognising the enduring friendship between Greece and Australia.

Immediately following the service, the community is invited to attend the Greek National Day Parade, where participants will march proudly along Birdwood Avenue to the Australian Hellenic Memorial, showcasing Greek culture, heritage, and unity.

Following the commemorative service, we proudly honoured Greek Independence and the enduring spirit of Hellenism with the Greek National Day Parade.

Thousands gathered to commemorate the 25th of March with pride, unity, and deep respect for our heritage. The vibrant displays of culture and tradition, showcased the strength and pride of the Greek community. A heartfelt thank you to the community organisations and schools that participated and made this a truly memorable occasion.

🇬🇸🇬🇷Victorian Council for Greek National Day – 25th March Commemorative Events.

The day began with a special Greek-Australian Commemorative Service at the sacred and historic Shrine of Remembrance. Dignitaries, community leaders, veterans and students gathered to commemorate the Greek-Australian friendship and alliance which is built on shared values of democracy, justice, and the pursuit of a better future. It marked a day of remembrance, of pride, and above all, of unity.

A special thank you to the Shrine Trustees and staff for their unwavering support and for helping us mark this important occasion with the dignity and respect it deserves.

A big thank you to the members of the Executive Committee and our volunteers who made this service possible.
