🤖 Making Dad-bots with Fitzroy Crossing school kids for Father’s Day 🔨

🛠️ On Friday our GYU crew packed up the tools, timber and 3D printer and set up an activity station at Fitzroy Valley District High School "Skutta Bloke" Father’s Day event.

🪚 We showed the kids how to build their own "dad-bots": little wooden robot figures built by hand and finished with 3D-printed eyes and buttons.

👦🏾 Each kid got to choose where the arms and hands went, making each one-of-a-kind, then took their creation home to give to their dad or pop.

😊 The activity was a hit, and the kids felt proud of something they made with their own hands, ready to give it to the special bloke in their lives.

This is all part of supporting strong men, stable families and a thriving community in the Fitzroy Valley.

🏫 Thank you to for having us be part of your Father’s Day celebration.

🔨 From recycled pallets to mud pies, the team at Gurama Yani U - Fitzroy Valley Men Shed is using creativity and hands-on skills to help build stronger, healthier Fitzroy Valley communities.

👩🏾‍🍳This week, a popular idea came to life: a mud kitchen designed for Fitzroy kids to dig, splash, cook and play.

🪚Using recycled pallet wood, a whole mud kitchen was made from scratch in the workshop.

🖨️ The kitchen sink, tap and oven dials were then 3D printed to fit. All ready to bake mud pies!

Why a mud kitchen? Because mud kitchens:
🌱 Build fine motor skills through pouring, mixing and scooping
🧠 Spark imagination and open-ended storytelling
🤝 Get kids playing and problem-solving together
🌿 Connect children to natural materials, sand, water, leaves and sticks
😌 Support sensory regulation and calm, focused play
🗣️ Build language and vocabulary through pretend cooking

🏫This mud kitchen is headed to a lucky Fitzroy Crossing school, with plenty more mud kitchens to come. What a great project to be part of!
