We are SO BLEESED this week: 10am Sunday Service: Join it!

Joan Wright Howie will be leading worship this Sunday as we read the story about Moses sensing God’s Presence in a burning bush. She has invited her friend Damian to come along, and together they will untangle the story.

Damian and Joan have been friends since childhood, and while Joan was inspired by her Christian faith and set off to become a minister, Damian was not at all interested in the Bible or anything religious and instead set up an IT company. They have remained good friends. When Damian retrained as a psychotherapist, he became interested in the Bible and asked Joan for the first time how to read it. The conversation led to a podcast called Untangled; each episode Damian read a chapter from Mark’s gospel for the first time and recorded the conversation with Joan. It’s a fascinating conversation. There was an article about the podcast in April Crosslight. If you missed it, you can have a read on p, 16 at this link: https://crosslight.ucavictas.org.au/flipbook/crosslight-april-2026/

Damian is coming to church this Sunday for the first time in decades, and you can listen in as he chats with Joan about the experience and what he makes of the story of Moses and the burning bush. It will be spontaneous, honest and insightful.

It's NAIDOC week! This is the Artist behind this year's Naidoc Art: Zaachariaha Fielding.
This Sunday we will gather around the celebration of NAIDOC week, and spend time with this powerful image. The name of the image is Paralpi, and Zaachariaha says of it...
“Paralpi is about movement — movement through generations, through memory, through song and story. It speaks to the strength our people carry and the beauty of culture continuing to evolve while staying deeply connected to who we are.”
Our Sunday Service starts at 10am, up the rainbow steps on Gillies Street, here in Fairfield (cnr Duncan Street)

At Fairfield Uniting Church (St Andrews) members of our congregation gathered and sang to show that we want an international treaty to phase out fossil fuels ahead of the first ever global summit on phasing out fossil fuels in Colombia on April 28 and 29, and to bring this to attention of our Prime Minister . Australia needs to send a delegation to this crucial summit. Please sign up here to join with faith communities all over the world and show your support for this Treaty.

Were you there when they mined the coal and gas?
Were you there when they mined the coal and gas?
O sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble;
Were you there when they mined the coal and gas?

Other verses:
Were you there when they bleached and killed the reef?…
Were you there when they dug up sacred land?…
Were you there when they burned the fossil fuels?…
