Tomorrow night, Western Sydney has the chance to be part of something that will not happen again.

Arab Council Australia is proud to be community partner for the For Lebanon 10452 Relief Concert, Saturday 20 June, 7 to 10pm, at the Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown.

Presented by the Australian Arab Institute for Culture and Ideas, the evening brings together internationally acclaimed Lebanese composer and pianist Rami Khalifé, projected works by the late painter and writer Abdel Hamid Baalbaki, and a screening of Maroun Bagdadi’s landmark documentary We Are All For the Fatherland.

This is not just a concert. It is music, cinema and art held together by one purpose: raising funds for the Lebanese Red Cross and the wider relief effort, at a moment when Lebanon needs that support more than ever.

Seats are limited and online sales close two hours before the show. If you have been looking for a way to stand with Lebanon, this is it.

Last night, members of our staff, board and CEO Hassan Moussa attended the ZEST Awards at Accor Stadium, joining community leaders and changemakers from across Western Sydney.

Arab Council Australia was a finalist in the Outstanding Project – CALD Communities category for our Tabiea-Masiruna, Arabic Community-Driven Climate Action Plan. We didn't take home the award, but standing alongside so many organisations doing real work in Western Sydney was a reminder of what this community is capable of when we work together.

Congratulations to every organisation that won last night. And congratulations to every finalist, nominee and team still doing the work, award or not. Western Sydney is stronger because of you.

Thank you to Western Sydney Community Forum for hosting an evening that recognises the people who rarely get the recognition.

This week, Minister for Women, Seniors and the Prevention of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Jodie Harrison MP visited Arab Council Australia to learn firsthand about our work with Arabic Speaking Communities.
Minister Harrison was joined by Julia Finn MP for a conversation with ACA's CEO Hassan Moussa, board members, and staff about the services we provide, the complexity of the issues our community faces, and ACA's long history in the domestic, family and sexual violence space.
It was an honest and productive discussion, the kind that matters.
We look forward to sharing more soon, including the upcoming launch of ACA's report documenting our work in this field, a body of work built over many years and a resource we hope will contribute to a more informed and responsive sector.
Thank you to Minister Harrison and Julia Finn MP for making the time to meet with us.

NSW is on track to lose $10 billion to poker machines in 2026. In just the first three months of this year, $2.37 billion was lost, and losses are rising more than twice as fast as inflation, even as families struggle with the cost of living.

Our communities are bearing the heaviest burden. In Q1 2026, Canterbury-Bankstown lost $198.8 million, Fairfield $186.1 million, and Cumberland $136.2 million, among the highest in the state.

Arab Council Australia stands with Wesley Mission and the Put Pokies In Their Place campaign in calling for real action, including a shutdown of poker machines from midnight to 4am.

Read the full report and find out how you can take action.
