OUR HISTORY

New Hope Care is the charitable arm of New Hope Church Brisbane. Since 2015, New Hope Church had a vision to bring hope and a future to those who were struggling with homelessness challenges in inner-city Brisbane. Out of this New Hope Care was born and has since then become a registered charity with the Australian Charities and is recognised by the Not-For-Profit Commission as a Deductible Gift Recipient. New Hope Care has a separate governance with its own Gift Fund Regulations, Executive and audited accounts. It is home-grown charity based in Red Hill and serving people in need in the near and CBD communities.

​OUR MISSION AND AIM
The mission of New Hope Care is 'Giving hope and a future'. We aim to meet the needs of those in Brisbane who require relief from poverty, addiction and grief, distress, loneliness and mental health challenges. New Hope Care is committed and passionate about helping people
re-establish themselves with a focused strategy to overcome their circumstances, giving them a hope and a future. New Hope Care also partner with Reto to Hope, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre that supports people with addiction problems and at risk of marginalisation. The funds raised by New Hope Care are used to provide a range of services for the needy in our community. These include:

- A weekly soup kitchen that caters for 60 people
- Cooked breakfasts for residents of Pindari (one of the homeless shelters in our area)
- Food pantry and clothing cupboard
- Emergency Assistance
- Providing used laptops to assist clients with internet connection for job-seeking, resume building, etc.
- Transport services so guests can attend the soup kitchen and other events
- Life-skilling programs including the ‘CAP Money’ course, which teaches budgeting, debt management and spending strategies

It’s the little things we share that make the biggest difference.

A few items donated……

Or simply taking the time to check in on someone.

We may not always know what another person is going through, but a little thoughtfulness can remind them that they don’t have to face everything alone.

That’s what community is all about. Looking out for one another, sharing what we can, and making sure there’s room for everyone.

Saturday, the New Hope Op Shop is getting a little more festive, a little more delicious, and a whole lot more fun! 🎉

We’ve got the food.
We’ve got the drinks.
We’ve got the treasures.
Now we just need you! 👀

Come hungry for a sausage sizzle or kebab, grab a ginger b**r or soft drink, then have a wander through the shop and see what treasures you can find. We’re sure you’ll find some treasures!

Sometimes, it starts with a simple invitation: “Come and join us.”

Imagine arriving somewhere, not knowing many people, and finding a warm welcome, a place to sit, and someone happy to share a conversation with you.

Before long, you’re chatting, sharing a meal, laughing together, and feeling a little more connected. And the next time you come, there are familiar faces waiting to say hello.

That’s the beauty of community. It grows when we make room for one another, share what we have, and take the time to connect.

🌍 TODAY IS WORLD HOMELESS DAY !

A home is more than four walls.

It’s a place to feel safe. To belong. To rest. To start again. 💛

Today, we’re reminded to look beyond the word "HOMELESSNESS" and remember the people behind it.

Every person has a story.

Someone who lost their job.
Someone going through a difficult season.
Someone who had nowhere safe to turn.
Someone simply trying to make it through another day.

And sometimes, what makes a difference is not something complicated. It can be a warm meal, a conversation, a helping hand, a kind word, or knowing that someone cares.

At New Hope Care, we’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up, give generously and make room for people who are doing it tough. 💛

This World Homeless Day, let’s keep looking out for one another.

Maybe start with something simple:
❤️ Check in on someone.
🤝 Offer a helping hand.
🍲 Share what you can.
💛 Support a local organization.
📣 Help others understand that homelessness can happen for many different reasons.
