OzAsia Festival 2026 kicks off today and marks the beginning of the festival's final season after 20 years. 🧧✨

Last month, we partnered with and to bring together 12 emerging Asian-Australian artists for an all-day intensive workshop on directing and devising. 🎭 The day offered an opportunity for artists to collaborate, experiment and learn practical skills alongside their peers, fellow practitioners and industry leaders from all across Sydney.

Our artistic directors Tessa Leong, Nat Rose, Jacqueline Hornjik and creative producer Bina Bhattacharya joined forces to share insights from their own creative practices and together facilitated a range of activities from drawing world maps from memory to holding complex conversations about Asian Australian works across the nation.

Thanks to all who attended and contributed to a meaningful and memorable day of practice exchange! 💛

Join us in celebrating our profound and long-lasting partnership with the OzAsia Festival, as we look back on more than a decade of championing Asian Australian stories in Kaurna Yerta and beyond! 🎉

Since 2013, CAAP has presented nine Asian Australian works at OzAsia Festival, including two world premieres, which were co-commissioned by Adelaide Festival Centre with other national partners.

The festival offered a unique opportunity for local Asian Australian artists and arts workers to come together and develop outstanding new Asian Australian works for Adelaide audiences that may not have existed without the expertise, support and spirit of the OzAsia Festival.

2021 | Perahu-Perahu (World Premiere)
2022 | Lost In Shanghai

2024 | Story of Chi (World Premiere and AFC Co-Commissioner with Terrapin and CAAP)
2025 | Milestone

We also ran CAAP Artist Lab from 2021 –2023 with Adelaide Festival Centre and OzAsia Festival as our primary partner, bringing together 23 Asian Australian artists across disciplines to share practice, grow community and gain pathways into arts organisations across SA.

We couldn’t be more proud of this history, and know we share the significance of this festival with locals, Asian-Australian audiences, and arts-lovers everywhere!

Last July 22, we had a wonderful Ticket Club event at the Belvoir St Theatre. It was a buzzing night, full of heart and emotions. Many Asian Australian artists and their families and friends were inspired and appreciated the time and space to enjoy theatre together.

Thank you Belvoir St Theatre for supporting us and huge congratulations to the cast, crew, and creative team behind The Jungle and the Sea - such an incredibly moving (literally) show.

The Jungle and the Sea runs until 2 Aug at the Belvoir St Theatre.

Ticket Club is CAAP's initiative to get the community to see shows together, support each other and engage with complex and captivating work.
