Eugowra Creatives: Amanda Mongan – HEAD on In Salon
For around 33 years, Amanda Mongan has been helping people look and feel their best through her work at Head on In Hair Salon.
Hairdressing was always what Amanda wanted to do. After finishing high school, she was able to begin her career when Roz Norris returned to Eugowra and opened Roz's Hair Studio. Five years later, Amanda purchased the salon and has never looked back.
Working from the salon's current location at the front of her home gave Amanda the flexibility to raise her family while continuing to do the job she loves.
When asked what she loves most about Eugowra, Amanda's answer is simple, the people. She speaks warmly about the strong sense of community and the support that locals show one another.
That support was especially evident after the 2022 flood. Faced with the enormous task of rebuilding the salon, Amanda continued caring for her clients by travelling to their homes. During that time, she was reminded just how much she valued her salon and was overwhelmed by the encouragement she received from clients and the wider community.
Amanda loves that hairdressing is about more than hair. It's about friendships, conversations and helping people leave feeling good about themselves. She also appreciates that running a small-town salon allows her to focus on her clients rather than sales targets.
Today, regular clients travel from Forbes, Parkes, Canowindra and Grenfell to visit Head on In. Many have been coming for years, and Amanda feels privileged to have shared so much of life's journey with them.
It's this combination of community, connection and care that has kept Amanda passionate about her work for more than three decades.
