πβ¨πΊ Who else enjoyed dancing the night away?
Moving from Afternoon Tea to Happy Hour saw speeches delivered by our Eton School Principal- Noel Reynolds and Eton P&C President - Shane Cook. The air was filled by the smell of deliciously cooking Roast Meats by Golden Roast on site (that Roast Pork was incredible π€€).Our Rustic Bar was flowing with icy cold drinks for all or guests. With many thanks to Beau and Zane for manning the bar all night.
As dusk turned to night- the stars came out- as did the breath-taking twinkle lights that were hung above us. The ambience of sitting under the lights was a feeling that was describe by many as "beautiful" and "magical". β¨ The tables glistened with lights reflecting in the glass vases and the smell of the Sandalwood flickering candles set a relaxing mood at the rustic themed tables.
We were fortunate enough to have over $2000 worth of Prizes generously donated to us by many local businesses to raffle off on the night. Names were drawn from the Eton State School handmade barrel, and our lucky winners were gifted their incredible prizes. However, we all ended up winning that night by devouring a decadent dessert.. or two, by the lovely Mackay Golden Roast.π°
The sounds of children's laughter filled the air as they were entertained with Face Painting and all kinds of Balloon animals, swords or their own creations. Maya and Chloe were so kind in helping keep an eye on our kids. Encouraging them to have a game or two under the ambient festoon lighting provided by Mackay Rustic and Shellco. Giant wooden games such as Jenga, Connect 4 and the good ol' bean bag tossed was played by both young and old.
Our wonderful teachers presented our dedicated P&C team with small tokens of gratitude for all their efforts into creating this event. As Shane summed up "Blood, Sweat, and some tears" went into showcasing off the beauty of this school.
As the night moved along, it was time to turn up the heat π₯
By that, I mean, it was time to turn on the heaters! It was becoming a cool and chilly night but Mackay local band, Fire and Fate, had our backs. With the sounds of familiar songs- our legs couldn't help but to start tapping away. As tapping feet turned to heads bobbing and finger clicking, some guests made their way to the dancefloor to show of their dancing skills. Are you in Australia if an event doesn't end up with guests dancing away to the 'Nutbush'? π
Many conversations were had and many memories were shared as past students gathered around the slideshow on display. As bedtime was calling for some, we were all humbled by the gracious words from all our departing guests, in what a great effort we went to. Unfortunately for some- they missed a stella performance by our own Shane Cook, as he entertained us with his version of Chariots of Fire on the ever-so-popular recorder. Luckily for you all- It has been forever captured in video π
We truly had an amazing time creating this historic event come to life. We have made new friendships, new contacts, and have a greater appreciation for this marvellous community.
We truly hope each and everyone had an amazing day and we hoped we did the school proud. Thank you all for traveling near and far to come celebrate this day with us!
From all of us on the Eton 140th Committee- We thank you all once again! π₯°
