Rotarians unite the power of one with the power of many to bring about exceptional change. Made up of men and women across all vocations and cultures, Rotary is a non-political, non-religious organisation focused on improving the well being of local and international communities in need. To be a Rotarian is simply to have a desire to do something to help others. To be a Rotarian is to develop your
skills, broaden your networks, grow your knowledge, enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded people and build life-long friendships. The Rotary Club of Essendon is part of a global network of 32,000+ clubs and over 1.2 million motivated volunteers. We pride ourselves on our 75+ year track record of completing enduring relevant community service projects and the fact that 100% of all funds we raise are distributed directly to the causes we support. We were Chartered in 1935 as the first suburban Rotary Club in Australia. Our club has produced six (6) District Governors and a President of Rotary International, Royce Abbey, in 1988/89. The Rotary Club of Essendon meets every Tuesday, 12.45pm for 1.00pm at the Anglers Tavern, 2 Raleigh Road, Maribyrnong, 3032. Lunch is served and each meeting finishes promptly at 2.00pm. Meetings usually include a guest speaker with a broad range of topics covered. Recent guest speakers have included: Des O'Keeffe (GM - Australian Jockey's Association); Stephen Mayne (Journalist and Corporate Governance activist); Ross Stevenson (3AW morning radio); Prof David Vaux (Deputy Director Walter & Eliza Hall Institute); and John Bigelow (Journalist and Editor of Security Solutions magazine).
