Looking for a fun way to support your baby's development?

Many local libraries offer free Rhymetime sessions for babies and toddlers. Through songs, rhymes and simple stories, little ones can build early language skills while enjoying quality time with their parent or carer.

It's also a great opportunity to connect with other local families in your community.

Check your local library for session times and come along when it suits you. It's free, welcoming and no booking is required for many sessions.

Meet Stephanie.

As a Parent Pathways Mentor, Stephanie works alongside parents and carers to help them build confidence, explore new opportunities and take positive steps towards their goals.

Before joining Parent Pathways, Stephanie spent more than nine years supporting people through employment and pre-employment programs. That experience has shaped her passion for helping people recognise their strengths and create positive change in their lives.

Stephanie believes every family has a unique journey. Whether someone is thinking about study, looking towards employment or working towards a personal goal, she's there to provide encouragement, practical support and meaningful connections within the local community.

Seeing parents grow in confidence and achieve milestones, big or small, is what makes her role so rewarding.

We're grateful to have Stephanie as part of the Parent Pathways team.

✨ WE’RE HIRING IN ESPERANCE ✨

Team Lead – Parent Pathways | Esperance

Make a difference locally. Lead a service that supports parents and carers to build their future.

SMYL Community Services is looking for an experienced, community-minded Team Lead to lead the delivery of our Parent Pathways program in Esperance.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building strong community connections and leading a small team, while still being actively involved in supporting participants.

About Parent Pathways

Parent Pathways is a voluntary service supporting parents and carers of young children to identify their personal, education and employment goals and take practical steps towards achieving them.

The program recognises that every parent's circumstances are different. Support is tailored to the individual and may include education and training, employment preparation, confidence building, referrals to local services and assistance to overcome barriers.

About the Role

As the Team Lead – Esperance, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of Parent Pathways in the Esperance region.

You will provide leadership and guidance to staff while maintaining a participant caseload and ensuring families receive a welcoming, respectful and high-quality service.

A key part of this position will be building the profile of Parent Pathways across Esperance. You will develop relationships with community organisations, education and training providers, employers, government services and other local stakeholders to create opportunities for participants and strengthen referral pathways.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing a participant caseload and providing individualised support
- Ensuring program requirements, quality standards and performance expectations are met
- Developing strong relationships with local services and community organisations
- Identifying local opportunities for participants, including education, training and employment pathways
- Supporting community engagement activities, workshops and events
- Monitoring participant engagement and program performance
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring program and organisational requirements are followed
- Working closely with the broader Parent Pathways team and Program Manager.

About You

We are looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident leading both people and service delivery.

You will ideally bring:

- Experience in community services, employment services, education, youth, family support or a related field
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
- An understanding of the Esperance community and local services
- The ability to engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Confidence working independently while remaining connected to a broader team
- Good written communication, case management and administrative skills
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to supporting participants and staff.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working within their community and can create an environment where participants feel welcomed, respected and supported.

Why Work With SMYL?

At SMYL Community Services, our work is about people and communities.

Joining SMYL means becoming part of a WA community-based not-for-profit organisation with a long history of supporting people through employment, education, training and community programs.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Make a difference in your own community by helping local parents and families work towards their goals.
Lead locally and use your knowledge of Esperance to develop partnerships and opportunities that respond to the needs of the community.
Build something meaningful by continuing to grow the presence and impact of Parent Pathways in the Esperance region.
Work with purpose in a role where success is measured not only by numbers, but by the progress made by the people we support.
Be part of a broader team with access to experienced colleagues and management support while having the autonomy to manage local service delivery.
Develop professionally through exposure to leadership, program management, stakeholder engagement and community development.
Bring your ideas to the table. We value staff who identify opportunities, build relationships and find practical ways to improve services for our participants.

Meet Alyson.

As our Community Programs Manager, Alyson is passionate about helping parents feel supported, connected and confident as they work towards their goals.

While she's spent more than 18 years working in community services, her first career was actually as an apprentice boilermaker welder. The experience taught her resilience, practical problem-solving and the importance of creating opportunities for others.

Being a mum has strengthened her passion for supporting families. She knows every parent's journey is different, and believes having the right encouragement and connections can make all the difference.

Today, Alyson works closely with our Parent Pathways team and community partners to deliver programs, events and support that are welcoming, flexible and centred around the needs of local families.

She's incredibly proud of the team behind Parent Pathways and the positive impact they're making in communities every day.

One of the lesser known benefits of Parent Pathways is access to the Individual Fund.

This funding may be available to help eligible participants take the next step towards their personal, study or employment goals.

As every parent's situation is different, the support available through the Individual Fund will vary based on individual circumstances and goals.
