A day to remember Deyaan. A day to choose the gift of life. 🧡

Saffron Day, observed on 22nd October, honours the memory of Deyaan Udani, a bright seven-year-old boy who tragically passed away in 2016. Through his parents’ decision to donate his organs, four lives were saved. His story continues to remind us that even in the hardest moments, one decision can create hope for others.

Saffron represents courage, strength and sacrifice, qualities that Deyaan embodied. Orange was also Deyaan’s favourite colour, making it a meaningful symbol for this day.

This Saffron Day, you can help keep his legacy alive in three simple steps:

💚The Transplant Thank You Walk💚

SRMD Australia was honoured to be part of a meaningful 1.5 km walk across Darling Harbour, organised by Transplant Australia, bringing communities together to raise awareness about the life-changing gift of organ and tissue donation.

Every step was a reminder that one decision can give someone another chance at life— a gift of hope, compassion and humanity that continues far beyond us.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Transplant Australia, DonateLife, WE Project, Ekushe Bangla Desi Community, Saffron Day and everyone who participated, volunteered and helped bring this important initiative to life.

At SRMD Australia, we believe that seva begins when we look beyond ourselves and come together for the wellbeing of others.

Thank you for creating a space where communities could walk together, honor the donors and their families and spread a message that truly matters. 🙏💚

This Donate Life Week, our SRMD volunteers were proud to be out in the community raising awareness about the life-changing impact of organ and tissue donation.

While 4 in 5 Australians support organ and tissue donation, only 1 in 3 are registered. Together, we can help bridge that gap by encouraging more people to register and share their decision with their loved ones.
