August is *Family History Month* so we have additional activities available to members and visitors (free to both).

This Saturday, 16 August, we have two events:

**10am-noon: getting started in writing family history **
This is a workshop, so you will be doing the writing. You will need to bring something to write in and with (eg a notebook and a pen), and at least one document (eg certificate, newspaper clipping, electoral roll entry, photograph) that interests you enough to want to write about it. If you've never written before, rest assured that the tutor will guide you through easy steps: writing notes, reports or narratives (don't be scared, it's just telling a story)

**1pm-3pm: getting started with DNA**
Whether you've done your DNA test, are thinking about it or are a bit confused or scared, you'll be in the right place. Our facilitator will guide you through the how and why, give you some cautions, and answer your questions.

If you can't come for the full two hours of either of these events, feel free to come when you can and leave when you you need.
