Emerald Fish Stocking Group Inc We're a non profit, volunteer run community organisation restocking the Fairbairn Dam & Nogoa River. All people are encouraged to join.

Fish stocking involves releasing fingerlings into the Fairbairn Dam, and weirs on the Nogoa River. This can provide many benefits such as creating new fisheries, enhancing existing fisheries, mosquito control and recovery of threatened fish species. Impounded waters such as the Fairbairn Dam need to be continually restocked because, in most circumstances some stocked species will not reproduce the

re ie barra. Fairbairn Dam is stocked each year with fingerlings to ensure the fishery remains successful into the future. Funding is allocated through the (S.I.P) Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme for which fingerlings are purchased and released into the dam. The Emerald Fish Stocking Group Inc also raises funds/ applies for funding to purchase fingerlings to restock Non S.I.P area like the Nogoa River. The Emerald Fish Stocking Group Inc members consist of diverse cross section of people from retired citizens, to local business people, local workers, young anglers to local government employees.
