This week we hear an Evaluation Educational 🤓

Annie shares her wisdom about how to give feedback and evaluate someone's speech. Learn tips and tricks to become a better leader and speaker.

Toastmasters, visitors and guests are welcome to come along to learn a little more.

We meet this Wednesday the 5th of August at 7.30pm @ The Hills Hub Belgrave-Gembrook Road, Emerald.

Meetings occur on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month.

There is no meeting tonight as it is the 5th week of the month.

Last meeting Lynette ran our Moments of Truth session where we got reflective about what has been working and what hasn't.

We had 2 visitors, Bernie and Kate.

Recently we held our Changeover evening at Bam Bam Italian in Avonsleigh.

We congratulate Lynette as Toastmaster of the Year, and Annie as Mentor of the year. A special President's award was announced for Stephen for his leadership and stepping into the vacated VPE role.

We thanked our outgoing exec and welcomed our new executive, which will be led by (Pres)with her team of Donna (VPPR), Edith (VPM), Stephen VPE/Treasurer, Nikki (Sec), Benita (Sgt at Arms.

We have a unique tradition at the Hills where we pass on a special baton. This baton was created and intricately carved from a piece of wood by former member, Lynn which is passed on to each new President. It also comes with detailed writings of the ancient history of the Baton.

We're excited about the new team as our newer members put their hand up to learn new skills in these leadership roles and enhance their leadership journey.

Supported by experienced members, Stephen, Donna and Nikki as we look forward to the continuing growth, contributions and we have lots of fun and laughs along the way.

Changeover Dinner was Wednesday night at Bam Bam Italian

This is a night where the outgoing executive committee is celebrated and thanked for their contributions, and the new committee is welcomed 🤝

Happenings at the Hills - we had our speechathon reccently and heard 7 wonderful speeches including an icebreaker from our new member Edith. With speeches comes fabulous constructive evaluations which were presented with confidence.

We also had a visit from 2 outside members via zoom - Natalie from GOTO Toastmasters and Rohan from Kingston. Thank you Natalie for your educational on how to conclude your speech and Rohan who was a finalist in the District International
Speech contest, with his inspirational speech.

We also had a visit from our Division Director, Simon Lakey who gave us a very insightful, detailed and positive general evaluation. It was good to hear that he thought our members have grown and are more unified and confident with presenting inspiring speeches and positive evaluations since his last visit. Thank you Simon for your wonderful feedback and visiting us.

So come along tomorrow night and see what Toastmasters is all about and how you can become more confident and an improved speaker in a supportive environment. Let your voice be heard.

We meet at the Hills Hub on 1st and 3rd Wednesday (tomorrow night). First couple of visits or so are complimentary to see if Toastmasters meets your needs.

Another exciting evening at the Hills last meeting. We presented our new members with their name badges and we also voted in our new executive. Congratulations to the new exec for stepping up into these leadership roles especially Kirsty, Edith and Benita who are our latest new members to the club.

Do you have a personal or inspirational story you would like to share? Do you need to do a presentation at work or try for a promotion? Or would you like to build confidence and improve your communication skills?

All this is possible by attending The Hills Toastmasters Club where we teach you the skills to attain all or any of these goals plus more.

Just like our founding member Annie, who is also an author, has an important story to share about survival. That is why she joined Toastmasters to be able to present a constructive speech and presentation to engage her audience. Annie says if she could do it, anyone can.

She was nervous and overwhelmed in the beginning when joining Toastmasters a few years ago, but the warm welcome and encouragement she received put her at ease in no time.

Recently Annie was the guest speaker at U3A in Bentleigh and they found her speech inspirational and engaging (pictured with IPP, Erica)

The annual D73 conference was held last weekend. Workshops were held with keynote speakers Charlie Starratt and world champion speaker 2022, Mike Carr. Annie, Nikki, and Kirsty went along and were inspired by these excellent speakers. It was also a great networking experience.
