✨ Testimony from the Road ✨
With a little over a week since we last put up an update, we want to share what the Lord has been doing—because this last week has not been anything like the plans looked.
It has reminded us of some Scriptures we pray and consider daily as we commit our plans, journey, life, family, and each day to Him:
Proverbs 16:3, 9
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.
A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord makes his steps secure.
On Friday we stopped for what was to be just a night as we commenced the next leg of our trip after leaving Melbourne. We went to hitch up to keep moving when Sam noticed a leak—not one, but two, fuel and coolant. He then came to the van door and said, “We won’t be going anywhere. It’s not good.”
Initially we were disheartened—our excitement dampened and our plans delayed.
BUT we stopped and consulted the Lord, committing it to Him and asking Him to help us see what He sees.
Leading up to this time, both Sam and I had not been quite ourselves, with obvious attempts coming against us from many different angles. We had a real sense that the enemy of God, and of His plans for us, was trying to disrupt, discourage, distract, disconnect, divide, frustrate, silence, and cause us to doubt what the Lord had spoken into our hearts for this mission.
While up until this point we were still stopping, praying, giving thanks, and having our quiet times, we were definitely out of routine and a bit out of sorts due to demanding circumstances and timeframes up to this point and the kms covered.
Yet we had so many high points, blessings, and amazing opportunities to step out in faith—to share our Lord and Saviour, and to pray for many individuals, families, businesses, and those who had blessed us and been a part of God’s plan for us. So much to praise and thank the LORD for!
We had noticed some niggling misalignments, and the morning prior to noticing the major motor issues, we even discussed our desire to find a place to rest in the Lord—to refresh and recharge.
With the car issues, we were stopped in our tracks at a very small coastal town, without a car and with limited mechanical shop options. We had to wait until Monday to even be in touch. It poured rain, so we were locked down.
But we truly believe the Lord intended this for good and as a time to:
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
—Psalm 46:10
With transcending peace, we knew this delay was for an appointed purpose. So, we trusted and took the opportunity to turn off to the world and lean into the Lord. We did not doubt, even though we did not fully understand. We leaned in—consuming His word, praying, and setting up the van.
Just like Moses in Numbers 7, we set up the furnishing and utensils, and then we anointed everything! Dedicating it all to God for His divine purpose and plan—setting the car and van apart as holy unto the Lord for accomplishing His works and now the saving of many souls.
That it would be used to worship God and serve Him—a house of prayer and of meeting, where people will encounter God!
Through this time we came to know:
• His protection
• His counsel
• His plan
• His rest
• His call to bring us back into alignment
We also came to know He had a divine calling for us in this very specific destination. We attempted to go to church but unfortunately none were open for Sunday service. Still, we sensed the Lord dropping things before us to see and to pray for.
The following day, while parked at the mechanical place, we heard a word:
“I AM ABOUT THE ONE.”
With the weather now beautiful and sunny, and officially on foot as we left the car to be fixed, we saw God’s favour. The mechanic didn’t really want the big job—he was too busy and reluctant—but he chose to go out of his way for us. Even more, the repair was covered under warranty! A huge blessing, as the issue was major.
As we walked the streets, we crossed paths with locals, visited businesses, hiked and met strangers, and even had neighbours give us lifts. All welcomed conversation and blessing, and we had wonderful opportunities. But each day there seemed to be a specific ONE—someone who clearly felt like the one God had appointed us to cross paths with. He leaves the 99 for the ONE!! Our SITE ALSO POINTED TO THIS WORD AND HIS PLAN!!
We walked and prayed at each church—all seemed to be struggling. At the Uniting Church, we met a lady who shared that it is a hard town spiritually, with low attendance across all churches. A beautiful place with a spiritual void. We prayed God would pour out His Spirit and that the township would encounter and know the one true living God.
Through it all, the Spirit of the Lord ministered directly to our hearts and our family through this time We are refreshed.
Now we are on the move again—and especially excited for the next stop! 🙌 (TBA!)
We will hopefully post a little more frequently, but when the Lord called, we stilled and obeyed. Now we look forward to seeing all that the Lord will do. ❤️✝️
