World Children’s Day is UNICEF’s global day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20.
Around the world, children are standing up and talking about their lives, their hopes, and their rights.
Today is World Children’s Day, a day where we celebrate every child’s right to play.

Play is how children learn, grow, connect and heal. Every child has the right to play – no matter who they are or where they live.

When we protect a child’s right to play, we’re protecting their right to a full, healthy and happy childhood.

A big congratulations to Miss Chaise on achieving her Certificate III in ECEC as a school based trainee. A special thank you to CAECE RTO 40933 and Lorraine for supporting Chaise through her Certificate. We are so excited to be be a part of her next chapter as she continues with us at Borilla Kindy in 2026 to work towards her Diploma in ECEC.

Exciting News for Our Kindy Community

We are delighted to share some wonderful news with you all — Borilla Kindy and Emerald Kindy will be coming together, with Jenny Finlay having been appointed as the Director of both services. This partnership will help ensure the ongoing strength and continuity of community kindergartens in Emerald.

For our Borilla Kindy families, this change will not bring any major disruptions. Instead, it will allow the warmth, care, and excellence of Borilla to extend even further, supporting more children and families in our community.

Jenny will continue in her role as Director for both kindergartens, spending time between the two services to ensure each continues to thrive. She looks forward to working closely with both communities as we move into this exciting new chapter together.

Last week, early childhood educators from Emerald, Mackay, Theodore, Brisbane and Ipswich came together for a powerful few days of learning on our Adelaide Study Tour.

The tour offered a rich opportunity to build professional capacity, share knowledge across regions, and strengthen the connections that support high-quality early learning in Queensland.

A highlight for many was the visit to the APY Gallery, a unique and deeply moving experience that sparked reflection, dialogue, and admiration for the incredible work of First Nations artists and communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Your passion, curiosity, and commitment to lifelong learning continue to inspire.

National Child Protection Week – 7 to 13 September 2025
This week marks the beginning of National Child Protection Week, a time to reflect on the important role we all share in keeping children safe, supported, and empowered.
At Borilla Kindergarten, we are proud to take part in this meaningful initiative. This year’s theme, “Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action,” reminds us that even the smallest conversations can lead to big changes in creating safe and nurturing environments for all children.
Throughout the week, we will be:
Exploring age-appropriate learning experiences about personal safety and setting boundaries
Encouraging children to practice kindness and build a strong sense of community
Reinforcing our ongoing commitment to child safety, with all staff reaffirming their dedication to creating a safe and caring environment
As a service, we continue to implement the new Child Safety Standards, ensuring that every child feels safe, heard, and valued.
Together, let’s celebrate the importance of child protection and work towards a safer future for every child.

At Borilla Kindy, we are so lucky to have a team of real-life superheroes — the ones who share in the laughter, the tears, the milestones, and the messy moments with our children and families every single day.
