At our meeting today we had 19 attendees and 5 apologies.

James Cook University gave an update with the responses from our survey. Thanks to all members and carers who contributed.

The results have certainly re-engaged my motivation and desire to see the group continue and provide a much needed service.

There was also a presentation on the groups that are available through the JCU CQCRRH Allied Health Student Led Clinic to help us in our journey.

Thanks so much to the two fabulous speech pathology students for an outstanding presentation.

Thanks to rotary for use of their clubhouse and the wonderful Rose for dropping in home made cupcakes.

Today was the June meeting of our group with 10 in attendance and 5 apologies.

Two social workers & an allied health worker from JCU attended to facilitate a goal-planning session. 👏👏

The group has now been running for 12 months, making it a great opportunity to reflect on achievements, explore what members value most about the group, and identify goals for its future.

We look forward to seeing the results. 🙏

Today was the third meeting of our Parkinsons Support Group for this year. Eighteen people attended with six apologies.

It also represents 12 months since the group started. The old saying "Build it and they will come" is very applicable. 👏👏

At the meeting we enjoyed a presentation from the lovely Nikki a Financial Information Service Officer and brilliant Brad the My Aged Care specialist with Services Australia.

They gave excellent information and how to access information about your aged care needs.

They are visiting Emerald and you can make appointments to see them at the Centrelink office in Egerton St.

Also a special welcome to Georgina, Lyndall and Lynda from CHRC. Thank you for arranging Services Australia to visit us.

We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month starting at 10am in the Rotary clubhouse opposite the Emerald Hospital. No cost to attend.

As administrator of this page I want to not only promote the group and the wonderful speakers we have but also to educate the community about parkinson's disease.

In the photo below you may have seen someone in person or in the media shuffling along and think ah so that is parkinsons! Sadly no.

In the diagram below the iceberg represents what it is like for the person, carer and family to deal with. I know first hand.

While there is no cure our support group offers a chance to meet and talk with others while offering emotional and practical support.

So please help me spread the word about the group which is ideal for people living with the disease, family members, carers and friends.

Many thanks in advance. Ciao Pete Bailey ♥️

The good folk of Central Highlands will be aware of the Emerald Parkinson's Support Group that I founded in May 2025.

Up until now I have been promoting the group and the wonderful people who donated their expertise to the group on my page and Emerald Community Awareness page.

With the wonderful help of JCU we now have our own page.

At our meeting in April the lovely Katie a Social Work student from JCU presented some fun activities and relaxation techniques to assist our members.

In the photo below my wife Robyn presents Katie with a Certificate of Appreciation. 👏👏

We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. You don't need to have Parkinson's disease and it's free to attend.

Feel free to contact me directly, via this page or through Parkinsons QLD.

Ciao Pete Bailey
