Putting The Local Lens on Pause

As much as I’ve loved building The Local Lens and connecting with so many incredible photographers, I’ve made the tough decision to put the group on hold for now.

Running it solo while also working full-time and managing my own photography business has become a lot to juggle, and I want to make sure that when I do something, I can give it the time and energy it deserves.

This isn’t goodbye forever – just a pause while I catch my breath and focus on the season I’m in.

Thank you so much for being part of this beautiful little community.

Our very first Local Lens meet-up was such a beautiful success! We had 6 creatives come along, each with their own style, skill level, and passion for photography 📸✨

We spent the evening chatting, shooting, and connecting over our shared love for the craft. Our challenge for the night was Symmetry & Reflections 🔁💧

In the first slide, you’ll see my images where I explored natural symmetry through flowers 🌸 and the reflections of ducks and light on the water 🦆

The next slide features a photo from one of our lovely attendees, Lee, and his daughter Lily. They captured some amazing man-made symmetry around the pavilion in the park 🏛️

So grateful for everyone who came along. Already looking forward to the next one!

Did you know photography has been around for almost 200 years?

It all started back in the 1820s, when the first photo ever taken took 8 hours to expose! Fast forward to now, and we can take stunning, high-quality photos in seconds, even from our phones, digital cameras, and instant cameras!

Photography has come a long way, from a technical marvel to an everyday part of our lives. Whether you’re snapping memories on a holiday, capturing a cute pet moment, or creating art, photos tell our stories in a powerful way.

It’s amazing to think how accessible photography has become, anyone can be a photographer now, and that’s the beauty of it.
