Little Plain Hall Secures Australia Post Community Grant to Boost Connection and Resilience
The Little Plain Hall Committee is proud to announce it has been awarded funding through the Australia Post Community Grants, supporting initiatives that strengthen community connection and mental wellbeing.
The $2,000 grant will fund a series of community meals, gatherings, and food co-operative activities at Little Plain Hall, creating opportunities for people across the region to come together, share food, and build stronger social ties.
Located in a remote regional area, Little Plain Hall plays a vital role as a hub for community life. The new program will focus on reducing isolation, improving wellbeing, and supporting practical skills and systems that increase food security and disaster preparedness.
“These gatherings are about more than just food,” a Committee spokesperson said.
“They create a space where people feel welcome, connected, and supported—especially important in times of challenge such as bushfires or floods.”
The initiative will include:
Regular community lunches and shared meals
Food co-operative engagement days encouraging local participation
Opportunities to build skills in food preparation, storage, and sharing
Strengthening local networks to support one another during emergencies
The program also complements the development of the Little Plain Hall Food Co-operative, helping to establish a sustainable, community-led approach to accessing and sharing food in the region.
Community members are warmly invited to get involved, attend events, and help shape the future of the co-operative.
Upcoming gatherings will be held at Little Plain Hall, with details shared through local networks and social media.
