Some school visits take a little more planning and support than others.

Jamestown Community School and Marree Aboriginal School were well worth it. Mackayla spent time with students from Years 5 to 12, building the skills to look after themselves and each other.

Distance shouldn’t decide which young people we get to see. Thanks to Qantas, Macro Group Australia and a generous supporter from our Reach for the Stars Ball, it didn’t.

This Thursday, we’re throwing back to an epic arvo in the Hills.

Thanks to Helix Group for having us as charity partner at their AFL Grand Final Lunch again, to our mates at Howard Vineyard for hosting, to Dermott Brereton for sharing stories from his footy career, and to every guest who got behind the day.

Days like this are how we keep showing up for young people.

Yesterday, we heard from a family whose son’s life has been changed forever by one punch. Hours later, young people were filmed running towards another fight at Henley Square.

Today, we’ve spent much of the day speaking with media about something we wish we didn’t have to keep saying.

We know prevention works. But without the investment, we simply can’t reach enough young people before one decision changes everything.

We shouldn’t have to wait for another young person to be seriously hurt, or another family’s life to change forever, before prevention becomes a priority.

𝗘𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵.

The students at Hackham West School took what they’d learnt and ran with it.

Posters. A kindness kit. A kindness machine that spits out positive messages. And a group of boys who learnt to sew just to bring their idea to life.

Safe to say, they nailed the final assignment.

70 young people. A few big topics. Plenty of good discussion.

We spent the morning with the Year 5/6 students at Hendon Primary School, building skills around bullying prevention, respectful behaviour and looking out for each other.

Thanks to Variety - the Children’s Charity SA for helping make programs like these possible.

Neil turned the worst day of his life into something that could help protect others.

Eighteen years later, that decision has reached more than 300,000 young people.

Now we have one last chance to show up for him.
