We are beyond proud of Daniel Morrison-Bird, Dr. Rishelle Hume AM GAICD and Callan Durlik for taking part in the most successful that has ever been held!

Our Wungening team raised over $14,000, and the sleepout exceeded its total target goal of $850 000 to hit over 1 million dollars!

Thats 1 million dollars going straight back into community, to those who are doing it tough on the streets.

Our team spent the night sleeping outside at Perth Zoo , where temperatures dropped to 4 degrees, and they only had a sleeping bag and cardboard box to rest on.

It's events like these that highlight the resilience of our rough sleepers across Boorloo, and that homelessness is something no person should ever have to go through.

Thank you to Vinnies CEO Sleepout for a fantastic effort and their organisation!

Meet Aunty Marie Pryor, a wife, mother, nana, great nana and auntie to many.

A Whadjuk yorga, with ancestral ties to Ballardong and Gnaala Karla Boodja, Aunty Marie has lived a life dedicated to giving back to community.

As an Elder in Residence at Wungening, her role is shaped by her past, present and what she hopes for the future- as she continues to advocate for their history, their people, and their community.

Herself, and the other Elders involved at Wungening continue to guide how Wungening gives back to the community through healing, leadership and culture.

Last week we received a donation of 10 quilts from the in association with National Indigenous Australia’s Agency (NIAA).

All the quilts have been handmade with love and care, with many even having stories books sewn into them so children can interact with the stories on the blanket for learning, or for when they may feel anxious to ease their minds.

The blankets will be spread between our housing facilities and children in care- and will be sure to put a smile on their faces.

We're super grateful for this donation and the hard work of all the quilters involved!

We cant wait to get these to the kids!

Can you believe we are already half way through pride month?

Being a good ally means more then just showing respect and not making judgements.

It's about understanding perspectives, individuality and that love will always win.

Whilst we celebrate Pride month at Wungening, some of our staff share what makes a good ally to our beloved rainbow community🌈

Wungening's Noongar Words For The Week are back!💕🥰

This edition kicks off with words related to makuru season!

As always, you're invited to take the information you've learnt here and use it in a sentence in the comments. It's all about building understanding and love for this moorditj ancient language. ❤💛🖤

Please enjoy today's deadly challenge.

✔️ PS: Due to there being many different Noongar/Nyungar clans in WA - and because of historic past efforts to stop this kwobidak (beautiful) language being spoken - spellings and pronunciations can sometimes vary slightly on those published here.
✔️We use two books as reference: Noongar Language Dictionary, compiled by Sharon Gregory; and A Nyoongar Wordlist From The South-West of Western Australia, compiled and edited by Peter Bindon and Ross Chadwick.
Boordawan/chat later!

Earlier this year, Wungening welcomed two student placements into our community: Wayne Ryder and Erica Deng.

Both are in their final year of studying their Masters of Social Work at The University of Western Australia, and the 16 week placement at Wungening marked their final placement before concluding their studies.

For both students, working at Wungening has given them more then just a practical workplace, but a community they can share, be apart of and a team they can rely on.
