WORLD-CLASS PROFITS, SECOND-RATE ACCOMMODATION
FIFO workers at West Pilbara Village have raised serious concerns about accommodation standards, including mould, sewage odours, dirty rooms, stained bedding, broken furniture, poor laundry facilities, extended periods without hot water and unreliable communications.
This isn't about comfort. It's about health, safety and wellbeing.
Workers spend weeks away from their families, work long hours in some of the harshest conditions in the country and help generate billions in profits for mining companies. They deserve accommodation that is safe, clean and fit for purpose.
The photos provided by workers speak for themselves.
The AMWU's message is simple: if companies expect world-class performance, they must provide world-class standards.
Health and safety doesn't stop at the mine gate. It follows workers all the way back to camp.
FIFO workers deserve respect, dignity and living conditions that reflect the value they create every day.
