WACSSO: Representing P&Cs in WA

WACSSO: Representing P&Cs in WA WACSSO is the peak body representing parents of public school students in Western Australia, with a membership of more than 650 P&C Associations statewide.

At WACSSO, we believe every child in Western Australia should have access to the best education possible. For over 100 years, we have worked passionately with school organisations across this state to improve the public education system - all the while never losing sight of a simple principle; that we are stronger together. Which is why we work every day to build the individual capacity of all of

our affiliates – empowering them through a number of support services, knowledge sharing and learning opportunities. It’s also the reason we recognise the power of presenting a collective voice for the views of all P&Cs. As one, we have the strength and fearlessness to advocate for the positive change that will truly make a difference. Together with the P&C community and all of our stakeholders, we will work tirelessly to advance public education in Western Australia, so that every child has the best chance to realise their potential and live the life they deserve.

----------------------

The Western Australian Council of State School Organisations Inc. (WACSSO) was established in 1921 and is directed by affiliated Parents and Citizens' Associations to represent the voice of parents and citizens associated within government schools. WACSSO State Councillors are elected volunteers who represent P&C Associations within their electorate at the state level. The State Council meets several times a year to discuss educational issues of interest to parents and citizen's associations, determine the direction of WACSSO and to influence the broad direction of education for the benefit of students. Being a State Councillor is a rewarding experience as you are able to make an active contribution to the government school system in WA as well as assist P&C Associations in undertaking their important work in schools.

👉Road Smart Investment Statement 👈
Road safety is an area WACSSO has long advocated for, including through our ongoing engagement on children's crossings and active transport. We remain committed to initiatives that support the safety of students travelling to and from schools.

"We are particularly pleased to see the program's statewide reach and the commitment to ensuring that students across metropolitan and regional Western Australia have access to high-quality road safety education.” - Pania Turner, WACSSO President

The theme for International Day of Play 2026 is: Protect play, protect childhood. And we couldn't agree more! Playing and laughing with 100% joy in the moment and without any limitations is the very essence of childhood. We're reminded today, that we should all be helping to create a world where every child's right to innocent play is protected.
