Our monthly working bee is on this Saturday 18th April 9.00 - 11.00 am 🐝

We are going to be tackling the seemingly omnipresent lantana, collecting rubbish accumulated on the site and carrying out our usual hand weeding 🌱

To reward and refuel our volunteers, this work will be followed by morning tea at 11.00 am 🧁

All are welcome! Come and go whenever you like, whether it’s for 15 minutes or the whole session. Please wear enclosed footwear, a long-sleeved shirt and trousers, and bring your hat, water bottle and gloves 🧢💧🧤

Our volunteers did some amazing work during our working bee on Saturday! 💪

The new hollow habitat logs were spread throughout the site and are now ready for occupants 🏡

We also made some great progress removing the invasive Black-eyed Susan vine (Thunbergia alata) beginning to regrow at the Durban Cres end of the site 🌱🌼

Thank you to all our volunteers for your time and efforts - we hope to see you again next time! 🌿

Want to contribute to the East Maitland Landcare site? Please consider joining our project on iNaturalist! 🌱

Here’s how you do it:

1. Visit the East Maitland Landcare site. Look around and capture images of the natural world around you. 📸 Plants, animals, and evidence of life like feathers and tracks count too! 🪶 While exploring, be sure to stick to the trails to protect our site. 🪺

2. Upload your observations to the iNaturalist app or website. 🤳 After creating an account, you can use the iNaturalist platform to record your observations, get IDs, and learn more about the species you’ve observed. 🧑‍💻

3. Join the ‘East Maitland Landcare Site’ project on iNaturalist. 🌿 Once joined, you will be able to explore the observations of other members and learn more about the biodiversity that calls our site home. 🦘

Your observations won't just help us map the species at the East Maitland Landcare site; they’ll also contribute to broader citizen science efforts that support conservation! 🧑‍🔬
