⚠️ These are dangerous fire conditions. Take action now to protect your life and property.
Check your Bush Fire Survival Plan and ensure your property is fire ready. If a fire starts, take immediate action.
Reconsider travel through bush fire risk areas.
🔥 A Total Fire Ban means no fires may be lit in the open.

🔥 Hazard Reduction Burn Information – East Kurrajong RFS

We’re aware there has been some discussion on the local community page about a planned hazard reduction burn in East Kurrajong.

We’d just like to reassure everyone that East Kurrajong RFS will always provide official information about our hazard reduction burns through this page once all planning, approvals and notifications have been completed.

A few things to know about hazard reductions:

* Every burn goes through a detailed planning and approval process before it can proceed.
* We will always make every effort to notify nearby residents who may be affected before a burn takes place.
* Hazard reductions are completely weather dependent. Even when all the paperwork and planning are finished, a burn may be delayed while we wait for the right weather conditions. Sometimes that means waiting days, or even weeks, for a suitable window.

We understand that early information shared on community pages can sometimes cause confusion or unnecessary concern. To make sure you’re getting accurate and up-to-date information, please rely on official updates from the East Kurrajong RFS page.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and support as we carry out this important work to help reduce bushfire risk and keep our community safe.

🚒 Could you help if a fire or storm hit East Kurrajong tomorrow?

Are you the type of person who wants to help your neighbours when something goes wrong?
You’re exactly who we’re looking for.

But when that day comes, you need to have ALREADY learned the basic skills needed to safely make a difference.

That's why we're looking for new members to join the local East Kurrajong RFS.
You don't need firefighting experience, and you don't need to be available every weekend. As little as a couple of hours each month for training, so when your community needs you, you're ready.

✅ All ages welcome – young, older, anywhere in between.
✅ No experience needed – we’ll show you the ropes.
✅ No pressure – get involved at a level that suits you.
✅ Protect your own home – learn skills to better prepare your home and family, without panic.

You don’t need to be some full-time hero or have years of experience. Most of us started out the same way—just wanting to lend a hand and be ready to do something worthwhile.
It’s about backing your community, learning a few skills, and making local friends.

🚒 Congratulations and Welcome! 🚒

East Kurrajong RFS is excited to welcome our six newest members — Abbey, Brooke, Caprii, Kerrie, Matt and Summah — who successfully completed their FF1 and FF2 training and assessment on Sunday.

Completing this training and assessment is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication, commitment and hard work each of them has shown. We look forward to working alongside them as valued members of our brigade.

You will see some changes in the leadership team at East Kurrajong RFS. Natasha Bennett is stepping up to be Captain, and Adam Henson is Senior Deputy Captain. Give them a wave when you see them out and about.

Huge thanks to Graham McCoy who has passed on the baton after being captain for the past 2 years.
