🚒 Could you help if a fire or storm hit East Kurrajong tomorrow?

Are you the type of person who wants to help your neighbours when something goes wrong?
You’re exactly who we’re looking for.

But when that day comes, you need to have ALREADY learned the basic skills needed to safely make a difference.

That's why we're looking for new members to join the local East Kurrajong RFS.
You don't need firefighting experience, and you don't need to be available every weekend. As little as a couple of hours each month for training, so when your community needs you, you're ready.

✅ All ages welcome – young, older, anywhere in between.
✅ No experience needed – we’ll show you the ropes.
✅ No pressure – get involved at a level that suits you.
✅ Protect your own home – learn skills to better prepare your home and family, without panic.

You don’t need to be some full-time hero or have years of experience. Most of us started out the same way—just wanting to lend a hand and be ready to do something worthwhile.
It’s about backing your community, learning a few skills, and making local friends.

🚒 Congratulations and Welcome! 🚒

East Kurrajong RFS is excited to welcome our six newest members — Abbey, Brooke, Caprii, Kerrie, Matt and Summah — who successfully completed their FF1 and FF2 training and assessment on Sunday.

Completing this training and assessment is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication, commitment and hard work each of them has shown. We look forward to working alongside them as valued members of our brigade.

Congratulations again, we are proud to have you all as part of the East Kurrajong RFS family. 🚒🔥

You will see some changes in the leadership team at East Kurrajong RFS. Natasha Bennett is stepping up to be Captain, and Adam Henson is Senior Deputy Captain. Give them a wave when you see them out and about.

Huge thanks to Graham McCoy who has passed on the baton after being captain for the past 2 years.

And thanks to all the volunteers in our team, young and old, who help keep our community safe. Neighbours helping neighbours.

Thanks to of NSW - Richmond Branch for their generous donation to East Kurrajong RFS, along with Glossodia & Wilberforce brigades.

We have quite a few trainees coming through at the moment, including a fantastic group of young women. The extra support is very welcome.

Richmond CWA does a great job supporting a range of community activities in the area.

🚒 East Kurrajong RFS Brigade are looking for New Members 🚒

We’re a small, local NSW RFS brigade made up of neighbours, mates and long time locals. Most of our crew have been protecting this area for decades, so we’re looking for the next generation to help keep the brigade going into the future.
If you live locally and want to give something back — this is a great way to do it.
✅ No big commitment – just 2 hours on a Saturday once a month
✅ Full training provided
✅ No experience needed
✅ Great mateship and community spirit

You don’t have to fight fires every weekend or commit your whole life to it. Every extra pair of hands helps, and you’ll be part of something that really matters to our community.

If you’re local and looking to do something meaningful with a small-time commitment, we’d love to hear from you. We currently have a couple of locals just starting their training so now would be a perfect time to join and be ready for this summer!

A huge thank you to everyone in the East Kurrajong community who came out to say hi to Santa and the Brigade on our annual trip around the neighbourhood 🎅🚒
It was great to see so many smiling faces and to share some Christmas cheer.
From all of us at East Kurrajong Rural Fire Brigade, we wish you a safe and very Merry Christmas!

Santa has arrived at East Kurrajong and has joined our members to begin his tour. Listen out for the sirens and stay posted to this page for updates across the afternoon. Post your questions here, as this page will be monitored.
Please also take care along the road with traffic. Do not let children cross the road unsupervised.

Santa is on his way to visit East Kurrajong this afternoon!
He will depart the RFS station at 3pm. The total trip takes about 3 hours. You can work out approximate times from the map. Listen out for the siren.

The elves will post updates of Santa's progress on the page. (Make sure you follow).

Santa reminds everyone to please take care near the roads.

We've just heard from Santa's elves......Santa will be touring around East Kurrajong on CHRISTMAS EVE, with lollies for the kids. He will depart the station around 3pm and the total trip takes about 3 hours.
We will post a route map and approximate timings on the day.

Ridiculously hot, very dry and windy.

If your plan is to LEAVE if there is a fire, think about exactly where you are going to go.
