Canterbury Earlwood Caring Community Centre

Canterbury Earlwood Caring Community Centre A Community Centre located in the heart of Earlwood We operate from a building owned by Canterbury City Council which we rent from them.

The Canterbury Earlwood Caring Community Centre is a community based organisation managed by the Canterbury Earlwood Caring Association Ltd (CECAL). We are located in the heart of Earlwood and provide a range of services for the residents of Earlwood and surrounding suburbs. However, we are not a service of Council. We function independently from Council receiving funding from a variety of sources

to provide community based programs and activities; social research and planning; service development and delivery and community information, education and advocacy. We also have a hall available for hire for community groups, government agencies and for profit groups. Please contact us for more details or check our calendar for available dates. CECAL is the overarching body of the Canterbury Earlwood Caring Community Centre. CECAL has a vision of a resilient, harmonious, inclusive community where all are respected and have opportunities to participate. CECAL’s purpose is to work collaboratively with community and other organizations to develop and provide services and programs which are inclusive of all members of the Canterbury community. We focus on building community capacity in identified areas of need and providing a caring, safe environment where all people feel welcome to participate. Our Neighborhood Centre and community development programs focus on children, youth, seniors and families. We provide referrals and advocacy with and for those in need and partner with others to provide services throughout Canterbury LGA.

β€’ History of Our Organization
CECAL is a non-profit community organization which has been providing neighbourhood centre services to the Earlwood community and surrounding suburbs for over 35 years. The beginnings of CECAL emerged in 1964 resulting from efforts of women who formed the Silver Threads Club. In its initial phase, CECAL operated from the Methodist Church and volunteers provided a home visiting program to support aged and frail-aged people in the community

πŸŒ™βœ¨ Pyjama Day at Tuesday Playgroup βœ¨πŸŒ™

What a cosy morning we had at playgroup today, with the children coming dressed in their favourite pyjamas!

The children enjoyed designing their own pyjamas during craft time, followed by water painting, puzzles and free play. We then shared a special cake to farewell one of our playgroup families who are moving overseas. We will miss them dearly and wish them all the best on their new adventures. β™₯

To finish the morning, the children enjoyed a short Bluey movie, followed by singing and dancing together.

Thank you to everyone for another fun and memorable Tuesday morning. Come join the fun this Thursday as we continue Pyjama day.

This morning, our Tuesday Playgroup was full of concentration as the children made their own friendship bracelets. They chose their favourite colours and carefully threaded each bead, helping to develop their fine motor skills and colour recognition.

The children were so proud of their finished bracelets and excited to give them to their mums, grandmas, siblings and friends.

After morning tea, we read See You Later, Alligator and finished with a fun exercise video by Danny Go.

What a lovely morning! 😊

This week at playgroup was all about rocket, space and planets! πŸš€βœ¨πŸŒπŸŒ•
On Tuesday, the children made super swishy rockets with colourful streamers and had so much fun zooming them around the hall, watching the colours swish through the air. πŸš€πŸŒˆ
afterwards, we watched a moon storybook video and enjoyed singing and dancing together.

On Thursday, the children created hanging mobile planets while learning the names of the planets in our solar system. They also explored a variety of sensory toys, practiced threading cotton reels, lacing animals and playing musical instruments. 🎸🎡

What a fun and educational week filled with creativity, learning and imagination! come along each week to explore, create and have fun together! πŸŽ‰

Sensory Week at playgroup was full of fun, colours, sparkles, and hands-on learning! 🌈✨

On Tuesday, the children made their own sensory bottles and loved taking their own creations home. Thursday was all about sensory play with coloured spaghetti, chia slime, rice and beans- everyone had an absolute blast! 😊. Sensory Week is definitely one of our favorite themes at playgroup 🀩
